Hollywood The Flip Side of Today's "HollyWonk"

There was a time when you had no Streisands, Baldwins, Fondas, Dixie Chicks, Madonna, Sarandons, Robbins, Penns, or Michael Moores.  Ah yes the good old days when we did not have to listen to people who are no more schooled in politics or American foreign policy than your average wino bum off the street.

Political tantrums are inevitable. You're dealing with a class of people who have unchecked egos and who are invited on talk shows to be experts on everything from high art to pop culture, but are actually experts on nothing.

Top of the loose-cannon list this year is the Bowling for Columbine director, Michael Moore, a favorite to win the documentary feature award.

Michael Moore frothing at the mouth during the Oscars

Last month, Moore thanked the French for not supporting the proposed Iraqi invasion while accepting an award in Paris. And on Saturday, he used the Writers Guild of America awards in Los Angeles to voice his opinions of George Bush, the US president.

Actors and actresses who take a strong anti-war stand and are seen on CNN chanting at demonstrations "No war for oil!" could boost their careers overseas. Sean Penn and Jessica Lange could become bigger box office draws in France and Malaysia by standing up to evil American imperialism in Iraq.

So don't buy the hype, folks. Hollywood's anti-war movement is really motivated by the thing that motivates most of what matters in Tinseltown: the profitability of movies. Box office or DVD and video profits are the real motivation behind this anti-war movement, not any idealistic opposition to the war or concern for Iraqi civilians or American servicemen.

The backlash against prominent stars opposing any attack on Iraq has impacted on this years Oscars, with organizers drawing up a blacklist of people who will not be allowed a platform to air anti-war views.

Meryl Streep, Sean Penn, Vanessa Redgrave, George Clooney, Dustin Hoffman and Spike Lee are among those who will not be speaking, amid fears they could turn the ceremony into an anti-war rally. And to tell you the truth who cares what they think? Just because they are actors it certainly does not make them international political strategists.

These [celebrities] are abusing their stature and they need to be informed that there is a lot of America who vehemently disagrees with them, They need to be put back in their place. They need to understand where they are in the great food chain of life.

Real Hollywood Heroes

In contrast to the ideals, opinions and feelings of today's "Hollywonk" the real actors of yester-year loved the United States. They had both class and integrity. With the advent of World War many of our actors went to fight rather than stand and rant against this country we all love. They gave up their wealth, position and fame to become service men &women, many as simple "enlisted men." This page lists but a few, but from this group of only 18 men came over 70 medals in honor of their valor, spanning from Bronze Stars, Silver Stars, Distinguish Service Cross', Purple Hearts and one Congressional Medal of Honor. So remember; while the "Entertainers of 2003" have been in all of the news media lately (for it seems News Paper, Television and Radio has been more than ready to put them and their anti-American, anti-Bush message before the public) I would like to remind the people of what the entertainers of 1943 were doing, (60 years ago). Most of these brave men have since passed on.

So how do you feel the real heroes of the silver screen acted when compared to the hollywonks today who spray out anti-American drivel as they bite the hand that feeds them? Can you imagine these stars of yester-year saying they hate our flag, making anti-war speeches, marching in anti-American parades and saying they hate our president? I thought not, neither did I!
