From DP7 (Displaced
Paranormals), a Marvel Comics' New Universe title which appeared
in the '80s. A regular character, Merriam had the ability to
absorb vast quantities of water. When exposed to water she would
swell to large proportions. This feature covers many issues with
her in a variety of situations, including a cross over into anothe
NU title, Star Brand. |

New Mutants Special
Edition #1, art by Arthur Adams
This issue contains several intertwining stories following
different groups of new mutant characters. In the Karma
story line, she initially appears extremely fat. How she got
so, is unknown from this issue. During the course of
the story she travels a desert, rescues a child from
a monster and literally sweats off the pounds until she
a very "Zena" like warrior.
The artwork is numbered in reverse order of appearance within the
story so that Karma appears to be gaining weight. |

Vampirella #63 (9/77), art
by Jose Gonzalez
This gist of this story is Vampirella & her companion,
Pendragon arriving in Ashib, for a private performance for the
Sultan and his guests. The motivation behind this visit, is a plot
by the Sultana, to get revenge on Vampy for a past insult.
Her revenge is essentially to have Vampy cast into a
dungeon where a creature lives who tears appart its victims. The
creature is a curse to the Sultan's family. The Sultan will
do most anything for the Sultana, including sending
Vampirella & Pendragon to face the beast. Vampirella destroys
the creature, ending the curse on ths Sultan's family and nearly
everyone lives happily ever after. Woven into the story, is
a sub plot, of Sultana's unfaithfulness to the Sultan, and the
consequences when she's caught. Which brings us to artwork
of this feature. I've selected several panels which tell this sub
plot, and if you will, we could say its the Sultan's Revenge.
Though not quite as graphic, it reminds me of the story
Eimire's Wrath, which may be found on the Dimensions
web site, among the weight gain stories. |

Action Comics #360 (4/68)
This is an 80-page Giant issue containing Super Girl stories. The
story presented here is
more of an inflation story. There is no mention of weight, but the
fact that she pretends to be a floating carnival balloon can be
attributed to her ability to fly. In any case, she gets BIG. |

This is an
interesting story in that Wonder Woman wishes to teach Steve
Trevor a lesson in beauty being more than skin deep. |
