~~ADVANCEMENT~~
Kharsih motions for you to join her in the small room. Inside you see her family sitting each absorbed in their own task. In the corner an empath seems to be healing a rather bruised young man, beside her sits another man absorbed in casting a spell of some sort. In the far corner you see a wise woman lecturing to a group of younger students, and at the small table a young lady chatting with another young woman, as the two absentmindedly crush something in a small bowl.
"This is our practice room. We come here to do our mundane tasks that we need and to visit with each other in the process. Ye know what the guild requires of ye, but ye don't know quite how to go about advancing. Each time ye advance it is attaining a circle. And though circles are nice, they are not the most important thing in life. But I will tell ye how to go about them, just make sure ye take time to enjoy life as well.
"First, the skills ye have learned are your experience. If ye forget them, EXP ALL will show ye what they all are again. If ye desire to know what ye are currently learning, EXP will tell ye your field experience, which is what ye are currently learning or have recently learned. Let me illustrate something else as well. My first aid, at this moment is 118.76 learning. This means, I have learned 118 ranks of the skill, and I am 76% away from having learned 119 ranks. The learning, is a scale of sorts. The more ye know and the faster ye learn it at, ye will see that rate change. If ye are dazed in a skill ye should stop training in it until it settles a bit, then train some more in it. If ye are clear in that skill, that means that ye prolly should train in it, for as long as ye are clear in it, ye will learn nothing about it.
"There is another thing ye should pay attention to as well. Your overall state of mind, is very important. If ye study too long, it will affect your state of mind, and if your state of mind reaches Mind Lock, ye are unable to learn anything. So, be careful not to do too much at once, for ye will have troubles remembering it all.
"Alright... now for the actual learning of skills. First, ye should ASK TALLIS ABOUT TRAINING and she will tell ye what she requires of ye before ye can advance. The list often times will be fairly long. Ye will have to attain a certain amount of these skills until ye have learned enough ranks to advance. And the higher ye advance, the more of the primary skills ye will need and the less of the secondary skills.
"After ye have heard what ye need ye need to train in these skills. All the skills ye need can be taught to ye from those that know more than ye do about the skill. However, practicing them yourself will give ye more experience about the world ye live in. And that is what I am going to tell ye of now. How to learn them on ye own.
"Lets start with magic.
MAGIC
SKILLS
POWER PERCEPTION -- this will tell ye how much Holy Power is available to ye in a room. As ye grow more skilled in percieving the Holy Powers, it will also tell ye how much magic surrounds ye. To do this ye must CONCentrate. Ye want to be aware of where there is Holy Power, because that power is necessary for magic. Each time ye concentrate ye increase ye knowledge of Power Perception.
PRIMARY MAGIC -- this is your ability and knowledge of the magic available to ye. To learn this skill ye must cast the spells that ye know. First ye must prepare the spell, and feed some mana into it, and ye must be in a room that contains Holy Power. (PREP <name of spell> 5) Then when ye are fully ready to cast it, ye CAST at the person or yeself, or the object.
HARNESS -- this is how much mana ye have available for ye use. If ye HARNess, it will tell ye this amount. The skill itself is raised each time ye cast a spell as well.
MAGICAL DEVICES -- remember that rune I gave ye? This is where ye use it. This skill is the ability to use magical devices. Until ye can read the spells within all the devices ye might find, ye will want to only FOCUS on the object. In time the spell and magical properties of the device will be known to ye. (FOC RUNE)
"That is all of the primary magic ye will be asked to learn. There are other magical skills, but these are the important ones to our guild. Now, weapons are another story.Ye will find that almost all of your combat skills raise at the same time and it is fairly difficult to raise just one.
WEAPONS
SKILLS
PARRY -- This is a skill similar to dodge. Ye must have armor in order to use it, or ye will get injured, for ye must be hit by the opponent to raise it. To do so, ye must first be in the parry stance. (PARRY) And be sure and hold ye weapon and ye shield at the same time.
PRIMARY WEAPON -- this is the weapon that ye have chosen to fight with. Ye may have many weapons that ye use, but ye will have to know one better than the other. Each time ye wield your weapon against a foe, your weapon skill will rise.
ARMOR
SKILLS
ARMOR -- this is your primary armor category. When ye are hit by the enemy, it will raise your armor skills. The more ye know about your armor, the less a hit will affect ye.
SHIELD -- Shield will be required of ye for as long as I am aware of. To raise it ye simply must hold ye shield while in battle. (REMOVE SHIELD)
"Again there are many many weapon and fighting skills that ye might find useful, but these ye will have to learn as a cleric. Another thing ye will have to spend a lot of time on, especially in your youth are your lore skills.
LORE
SKILLS
MECHANICAL LORE -- this is your mechanical ability. There are two easy ways to raise this. The first is with the mortar and pestle I gave ye. Ye want to put a root in the mortar, and then GET the PESTLE. Make sure the pestle is in ye right hand, (SWAP if it is not). Then CRUSH the ROOT with the PESTLE. Another way to raise this is through combining things. If ye FORAGE for a clump of GRASS, and then forage for a second clump, ye can COMBine GRASS WITH GRASS and put them into one bigger clump.
FIRSTAID -- this ye raise if ye are wounded, by TENDING your bleeding area.
APPRAISAL -- this is used in determining the value of things. To raise this skill ye need only APPRAISE the item.
TEACHING -- this skill is relatively difficult to raise when ye are young. It requires that ye know more about a skill than someone else. When ye do, ye must TEACH (SKILL) TO the person. The longer and more often ye teach, the more ye will learn.
SCHOLARSHIP -- this is your overall knowledge. Ye raise this skill when ye learn from others.
"Lore skills are everywhere, they are abundant. These are a few of the ones ye will need to learn for the guild. But, lore can be interesting and there are many aspects ye can excel in. Survival skills are much the same.
SURVIVAL
SKILLS
SWIMMING -- this is a fairly easy skill to raise. When ye are in water and ye move around in water it will raise this skill.
CLIMBING -- this also is fairly easy. Each time ye CLIMB over an object, this skill will raise.
DISARMING -- this requires a treasure box of some type. Each box is trapped with a deadly trap and ye must DISARM the box. Disarming boxes will raise this skill.
LOCKPICKING -- this also requires a treasure box. Along with being armed with a trap it is locked as well. Ye need a lockpick, and after the box is disarmed ye must PICK the box WITH the LOCKpick. The more ye pick locks, the more ye will raise this skill.
"Well, I hope that these give ye some help with the guild. And I wish ye the best of luck. Ye are ready to go on ye own now, and I think ye will do well. If ye ever need me, just holler and I will help as I can." She smiles warmly at you once again, leaving you to work and study with the family members around you. She rises and with a deep curtsy joins the man waiting at the door. He kisses her gently, and taking her hand escorts her away.
