The Holy Curia of  Ecclesiastical Reenactors
The very Unofficial Church of the SCA
The Middle-Ages was known as the age of faith. Religion was the basis of medieval life
and was the background to all day to day life.

To be a medieval reenactor it's absurd to not have the Church represented in the SCA. (or any other reenactment group), thus the formation of the Holy Curia.

We understand why the SCA,inc does not Officially sponsor a religion, nor should it as an organization as there were the big three religions that were part of medieval life. Those being Christianity, Islam and Judism. All gave strength and hope to their peoples through history.

The main religion of the Medieval Europeans (Medieval Western European Culture what the SCA is based upon) was that of the Roman Catholic Church (Also the Eastern Orthodox Rite for some). Early periods include the Celtic catholic church and later we get to the refomation churches as well. That said any Christian faith that is Period within the SCA timeframe is allowed. (Sure it's anachronistic, but so is the SCA)

For an organizational point our structure is based upon the Medieval Church.

Hence that is what we as the Curia reenact. Our groups structure is based on the Medieval Church between 1100-1400AD, but members can be from anytime within the SCA timeline.(or of any period Christian faith)

We choose these 300years of Church history as it was a good basis to have within our structure. The Crusades, pre-reformation and the simple fact of using terms within the group that are consistent helps keep things ordered. So if you see a group of Catholic Crusaders being lead by a Protestant Priest and a Orthodox Monk just enjoy it.

It's the feel of the Church we strive for, a framework where without hate or judgement. A place for all of us of religious persona to enjoy our reenactments and get the support and credit of our peers.
Please if you are going to join us you Must have a period persona that is part of a Christian Church as a Monk, Nun, Priest, Abbot, Friar or the like. You must also be doing this as a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism or other medieval reenactment society. Others may be allowed on a case for case basis to further understand our group.
