Travelog of a very Daniel Amos experience
I may take too many trips down memory lane, but let me tell you, Cornerstone '87 in Wildwood, Illinois seemed like an endless summer of concerts. For a recent high school grad like me, it was a chance to get out of town and see the big time/big deal of the greatest Christian music festival to ever come along. Although overcoming distance and direction and the real girls we met along the road are a different story, the festival is a memorable place where dreams come true for this devoted Christian rock fan. It's been a long, long, long time ago, but I have a few momentos I keep in my room to preserve what came through the speakers changless in my recollection, and safely in my home, permanently.
What you find on this page is the product of a cloak and dagger collection of props used in the Daniel Amos concert on the indoor stage that year. They were given sanctuary after being left on the darn floor--big bites ripped from them by being tread upon by people's feet. I tucked them into a safe place before going home, and realized later I would like to share this unusual fruit o' ministry from Terry and the guys in DA.
There is only one copy of these items, as far as I know. The first is apparently a sheet used by Terry Taylor to scribble out the lyrics to "Safety Net." Note how the changes he made affect the entire meaning of the song...a fascinating look at a work in progress.
The second item is the script for a skit at that same concert. In it, some little dumbo from the audience yelled out that he thought DA was just a bunch of stupid rock 'n rollers. Their response is the pretentious poetry readings about William Blake scripted on the sheet below.
I hope you find these items as interesting as I do. It's here simply for your enjoyment (I didn't build it for me.) Write me and tell me what you think. Hope to here from you soon!
