Me and P(*)E
I went to see Poe on the Alex Bennett show in San Francisco, in November 1996. I was eventually caught cutting class. ::) I got to hear "Angry Johnny" and "How Long" acoustically. Afterward, I got Poe's autograph and talked to her a little bit. I had just joined the Angry-Psychos mailing list the day before, and even though it wasn't as big then as it is now, she knew about it and told me that it ruled, and she knew who Jarrod was--this was before *we* knew who he was, so she really did know that we rocked already! She signed all my stuff, and I got to put a Live 105 sticker on Henry the cello's case. These are the pictures from that morning--Poe always comes up with great ideas for pictures!!!

Four pictures of Poe performing. Poe, Cameron, and Henry (now Tubby) the cello.
Those three, with Jones. (The picture you see on this page.) In both these pictures, the picture was just taken, so I wasn't looking at the camera.
These are better pictures of me, with promotions grrrl Juliet, and DJ Greg Gory.

After Poe left, I got to watch Failure play "Stuck On You," and they even did a bit of the "Lovefool" chorus by the Cardigans in the song! Three pictures of Failure performing.

To hear what I've heard on the Alex Bennett show, click here for The Alex Bennett Live Performance Jukebox and check out Poe's "Angry Johnny" (take two) and "How Long," Failure's "Paralyzed" (really "Stuck on You"), and Third Eye Blind's "Semi-Charmed Life" There are 42 songs on the jukebox, and all of them rule...you'll need Shockwave to play the Jukebox.

Nerf Herder [Arista Records' Nerf Herder page] [Coincide.com's Nerf Herderdom]

Live 105 was the first radio station to play Nerf Herder's hit "Van Halen." I got to see Nerf Herder at Slim's in December, opening for the Dance Hall Crashers. I had bought their album a week before the concert. They rocked like their CD does, and were charismatic, which I like to see in bands. Here, Parry, the lead singer, would point at people in the audience when they illustrated what he was singing, and he would refer to Charlie the bassist and Steve the drummer when he sang. He made the audience clap for Steve in one song, and during "I Only Eat Candy" he sang, "And I don't worship Satan/No, not like Charlie and Steve!" and then Charlie would flip his bassguitar over and there was a big 666 sticker on the back.

I took down a Nerf Herder poster from the wall and asked the band to sign it. They wrote all over it and my CD liner, saying how bad I was for taking the poster! ::) They told me that they hadn't seen the poster before, that when the label comes out with new stuff they don't get to see it. I asked them for stickers, but they didn't have any, so Parry took a card out of his wallet and I wrote my address on the back of it.
Later, during Dance Hall Crashers' encore of "Shelley" (I was so glad they sang that!!! I wanted to thank them, but we had to leave and I didn't get to meet them again. ::( ), I saw Parry standing nearby, and I went over to him and offered him my ziplock bag of gummi worms. He was like, "Can I just have one?" but I shoved the bag at him and insisted that he share. So he did, and after the show Charlie told me that everyone was downstairs eating them. So I didn't get to meet the Dance Hall Crashers, but I hope they got a good sugar rush!
