Salisbury, a little History . . .

The Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1972 by a small group civic minded citizens. They used money from their own pockets to purchase an old tanker truck. The next year, a twenty-two year old pumper was aquired. Roger Stone's barn, heated by a coal stove, was used to store the trucks.

In 1975, a new fire station was built. A contractor erected the building's shell. Volunteer members of the department, finished the interior.

The department has been very fortunate to have the support of a very active and generous Ladies Auxiliary. Their financial donations have been extremely helpful. They can always be counted on to show up at a fire with refreshments and moral support.

Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company joined the ACFA in October 1973. see ref (1)
