South Bay Poly Essay #149 (September 2007)
“Find Your Home Here”
Now that I've reached this advanced age of 56 -- I feel like I've finally learned how to live -- why did it take me so long?
I think some of my happiness must be due to loving three sweethearts -- part of it must be due to their own comfort levels and general stability. I have a wonderful daughter. I'm out to my immediate family. I participate in generally tolerant religious groups. I generally feel "at home."
Part of my comfort comes from South Bay Polys. Do come join us if you live near San Jose! Or come and visit if you are in the area! Here we are lucky. We have multiple poly dinner groups and social groups. There are online poly lists for certain religions (Unitarian Universalists, Quakers, and probably also for Pagans). I feel accepted in these groups. Try some of them -- or start one of your own inclination!
For me, and for Robert (the other founding member of South Bay Polys), it was important to have a place where it was safe to be poly, where polyness was accepted and valued. If you don't have such a place, consider finding one. It's wonderful to feel accepted and safe -- and appreciated and valued.
