Sato Kei

Sato Kei was born in Takasaki in 1948. After entering Hokkaido University in 1968 he developed such an interest in the Tea Ceremony and its pottery that he decided to leave that University and pursue his passion in the cultural capital - Kyoto. After graduating in Arts and Crafts he studied under various masters before finally becoming an independent potter in 1980. Since this time he has gone on to develop his own unique style which combines traditional Sue techniques with the influences he gained from his travels in Asia.
