Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane ....
Knowing what He was about to endure, Jesus said, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death." He then walked a bit further in the garden and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will."
After his arrest in the garden, Jesus was taken before Caiaphas the high priest, where all the chief priests, the elders, and all the council sought false testimony against Jesus to put Him to death.
They spat in His face and beat Him and others struck Him with the palms of their hands saying, "Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck You?"
When morning came Jesus was taken to Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor. But when Pilate found out that Jesus was a Galilian, he sent Him to Herod. After Herod questioned Jesus, He was mocked and arrayed with a scarlet robe. Herod sent Jesus back to Pilate who could find no fault with Jesus. And because the chief priests and elders persuaded the people to cry out for the freedom of Barabbas, Jesus was condemned to be crucified. He was handed over to them and scourged ... A crown of thorns was twisted upon His head ...
And a scarlet robe was placed upon Him ... and the soldiers bowed a knee before Him saying, "Hail, King of the Jews."
Jesus was forced to carry His cross to Golgotha ... the place of the skull.
"Do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children."
The Son of God nailed to the tree ....
"Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world."
"Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness - by whose stripes we were healed."
"It is finished!"
"Behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door,I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes, I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne."
We hope the Lord blesses you today, as you follow After His Heart! "Jesus replied: ' Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greates commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself'". Matthew 22: 37 & 38
