Welcome to the astrophotography website of Rob Greaves - UK based amateur Astronomer. Here, I will showcase my pursuits in Astrophotography.
I capture some of the UK's best CCD images which are often seen in astronomy publications, from my amateur observatory in Warboys, Cambs.

"From here, I shoot the Universe."

Astrophotography is the art of capturing distant starlight and photons from deep space nebulae, galaxies, and clusters that has
taken millions of years to reach us, then processing them into images that convey the beauty, intricacy and wonder of our Universe.

Further full size images can be found through the CCD Images link at the top of this page.

M31 - Andromeda Galaxy, our nearest galactic neighbour. Note the dark dust lanes. M31 can be seen naked eye from a very dark location away from light pollution. The Ring Nebula, M57 - a 'Cheerio' in the constellation of Lyra. Look for the central star. The famous Horsehead Nebula. It looks just like its namesake chess piece as an obscuring dark nebula against the lighter background wall of nebulosity. This image of the Rosette was taken at the wavelength of 656 nanometres - known as Hydrogen alpha, looking at a narrow emission line just 11 nanometres wide. The Little Dumbbell nebula is also known as the 'Butterfly', and sometimes 'Cork' nebula. This image shows the faint 'wings' nicely.
