A Beginner's Guide to Tea on the Web |
Behind only water, tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world. And well it should be: it's healthy, an "affordable luxury," and offers a range and depth of tastes comparable to wine, single malt scotch, or craft-brewed beer. As a result, tea is being discovered by more and more people everyday and the cyber tea community responds to "newbie" questions regularly. |
|
| The Internet can be a terrific source for information about tea and, at the same time, it can be a huge time consumer. This page is designed to help those who have developed an interest in tea and who are using the Web to find answers to their questions. It is a "juried" list of tea resources--by no stretch exhaustive, just those sites that, in my [humble] opinion, deliver quality information. | |
| Each section of the Table of Contents [TOC] takes you to a page containing links to sites covering a different topic. Just click on the blue underlined words and you will go to the material. If you can't find what you're looking for in the Table of Contents, I urge you to look around both my pages and the ones you visit from here -- as any librarian will tell you, classification and keywords can be very subjective. | |
| Finally, I apologize up front for a bias toward Chinese and Japanese teas -- just the way the palate developed, I guess. Still, I'm working on expanding my horizons, so check back soon for new material. | |

| Update 9/21/98: This page has grown
signigicantly since its debut in 7/98 and, with additions, loading of the
pages became slower and slower. As a result, I have redesigned the
site and added a few things to make access and navigation easier. In
addition to breaking up some of the longer pages, I have added:

| There is nothing more gratifying than recognition by one's peers for a labor of love, and it is unique to the Web that such acknowledgment occurs regularly and freely. The Beginner's Guide has received several pats-on-the-back some well known, some specific to food and drink, and some just because the reviewer was taken by the site. In each case, the "stamp of approval" is much appreciated and I thank those who have taken the time to review my work and seen fit to recommend it. Please see my Awards page and visit their sponsors. | |
This site is updated regularly [most recently 11/14/98]. If you have a site you want to contribute, want to suggest a new topic, or just want to talk about tea, please e-mail me [wazee17th@aol.com]. |

I hope you enjoy what's here so far, and check back often. With the increasing popularity of both tea and the internet, there's always something new to explore! |
