RDA: 1.5 mg (males) 1.1 mg (females) 1.6 ( pregnant or lactating women )

Vitamin B1 is a water soluble vitamin. It is not stored by in the body and must be replaced daily. B1 aids in the digestion of carbohydrates. It can improve your mental attitude, and help fight motion sickness. Your need for Thiamine increases during illness, stress, or surgery.

A mild deficiency can cause decreased aerobic performance, decreased strength, fatigue, low energy, and increased leg pain during work.

Severe deficiency will result in beriberi. Symptoms may include mental confusion, weakness, cramps, and ( or ) heart problems.
