WENDY CONRAD
When asked about her songwriting, Wendy
admits, "My truest self is in my music. I live my songs." And with
her rich, provocative voice, her listeners are led through the
textured landscapes of her life, mind and heart. Relocating to L.A.
from Nashville in 1994, Wendy has been captivating audiences wherever
she performs with her "real gift for melody and making personal
feelings seem universal." (Jeff Gold, "Jeff Gold's Acoustic Cafe" -
L.A., Ch. 3 & 38; N.Y., Ch. 69) Wendy can be seen performing at
various premiere songwriter showcases at venues including Highland
Grounds, Borders Books & Music, Luna Park, and Genghis Cohen,
sharing the bill with such artists as Spencer Davis, Teresa James and
George Highfill.
"Ghosts That Aren't Mine", Wendy Conrad's
debut CD, co-produced with veteran Ed Tree, marks the culmination of
her abilities, his expertise and intuition, and a flow of the
unexpected turn of events. It began in 1995, when Wendy walked into
Ed's studio with a single song to record. At the time, she figured
she'd record a couple of demos to pitch around town. In fact, she
wasn't even sure it would be her voice on the recordings. Luckily, it
didn't take her long to realize that, not only IS she the singer,
but, also, that the full produced recordings were to become part of
her debut CD. "I loved recording this CD. It was a joy, and working
with Ed was wonderful," Wendy recounts. "I miss it!" She missed it so
much, in fact, that she started recording a brand-new song for the
next CD...before this CD left the manufacturer. "I had to take a
moment and remind myself, 'Wendy, you've just spent all this time and
money on 'Ghosts'. You've gotta promote it!' So, here I am. Besides,"
she adds, "there's always something new to learn."
