Winter lodging in Michigan's U.P.

a winter wonderland

Winter season brings an average annual snowfall of 250" to Alger County in Michigan's Upper Peninsula -
a snowmobiling paradise!

Lodging accommodations available for winter enthusiasts!  Fully furnished 2 and 3 bedroom lodgings.
Full kitchens.

SNOWMOBILING

Whitefish Lodge is
       ON-THE-TRAIL (Trail #417)
and we have
GAS & OIL  available on property,
with plenty of trailer parking.
Park at your door.  Ride from your door.

Over 675 miles of groomed, marked scenic trails in our two-county area in Upper Michigan.  The trails systems of both ALGER and MARQUETTE counties crossover at our front door.  You can practically ride a different way every day!

Our area also offers plenty of old logging roads to explore and ride through the U.P. northwoods.  We recommend a ride from the Lodge to the Laughing Whitefish Falls - the highest falls in Michigan at 140 feet.

CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRAILS

Over 100 miles of tracked and groomed trails in the two-county area are available with skill levels from novice to expert. Be sure to check out one of the trails that is even lit for night skiing!

DOG SLEDDING & RACES

Dog sleds take to the snow-covered trails for several competitive races in the U.P.  Join us as a spectator for the U.P. 200 in mid-February.  Several local outfitters also offer sled dog excursions for this popular winter sport.

DOWNHILL SKIING

Marquette Mountain is a short 20-minute drive from Whitefish Lodge.  With the highest vertical drop in the Midwest, there are 19 challenging runs for every skill level.  Reasonable lift ticket & equipment rental rates. Night skiing too.

SNOWSHOEING

An honored tradition in the U.P.  Snowshoe into the woods where snow can be 3 feet and higher - and experience our winter wonderland from a whole new perspective.
