Work In Progress & Future Plans
Activation of the right hand MFD. As soon as I can find an F-18 or F-16 flight manual detailing all of the different screens available in those aircraft's MFDs, I will replicate them via Visual BASIC to operate functions of the right hand MFD. Data can already be extracted from FS-2000 and passed to the right MFD computer for processing and display. Currently it still displays the generic A/A scanning screen I wrote in Basic years ago.
A "total temp" indicator has been added to the main instrument panel which measures windshield temperature. When the temperature enters the "danger zone" a switch is closed that enables a "WINDSHIELD HOT" warning lights At the same time, a 300 second countdown timer in the same instrument is activated. When the time reads zero, another switch is closed which activates the "REDUCE SPEED" warning light. This instrument will be incorporated into the sim in place of the simple IAS overspeed sensing system that currently activates the "REDUCE SPEED" light and alarm. This indicator was used in the B-1 bomber and F-111 series of aircraft.
An old command and control COMM console out of an Army helicopter is being converted into an instructor's station. The pre-existing dzus rails and easy-access panels on the console make it ideal for a remote instructor station that can be disconnected and removed when not required. A computer monitor behind a control panel featuring numerous softkeys will be built on top of the console. Instruments and control heads will fill the sloped panel section and various situations/system faults will be selectable from the monitor on top.
