Hal Marchman did the Prayer, Edwin McGuin sang the National Anthem.
20 years ago, 1979, Ken Squier Brought NASCAR to CBS and CBS brought Stockcar Racing to National TV for The 1st ever Flag to Flag coverage. Richard Petty won as Cale Yarbourgh and Bobby Allison duked it out in the apron. *** More on this below
Brett Bodine has strep throat, he commented is going through the garage.
The command from yesterdays race, Brett Favre "Gentlemen let's get it on"? NOT, The Honorable Supreme Court Justice Judge Clarence Thomas gave those Famous Commanding words to The filed of our 43 hereos...."Gentlemen Start Your Engines"! Brett Favre gave the green flag.
Dale Earnhart retrieved his "Lucky Penny" back from his 1998 winning #3 Chevy. The penny was given to Dale by a little girl before the start of last years race. The race Dale finally captured!
Approximately 200 Thousands fans were in attendance today. Three (3) Times more than the superbowl!
Elliott had 11 engines in the #94 McDonalds Ford this week

20 years ago, 1979, Thanks Ken Squier, CBS and NASCAR!
While I was in Daytona I was Very lucky to catch Ken Squire on WNDB 11.50 AM. Ken talked about the past 20 years fo coverge for NASCAR. Bob Fishman was the director and is still today. Ken explained that with all that is going on in other professional sports America has really come to trust NASCAR. They are not going to let the fans down. It was an excellent interview and I am embaressed o say I can't find my notes from it. Hopefully when I get unpacked they will show up.
