Comments: LDO CDR (Ret) Aviation Ordnance "Gunner" VA-34 1970 - 1973 USS John F Kennedy CVA-67 CVW-1 (w/VA-34) 1976 - 1979 USS John F Kennedy CV-67 USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) (w/VA-52) A time to reflect on this magnificant machine and those who served. I am reminded of those who did not come back. LT(jg's)Dave Douglass and Bill Heckman. CDR Phil Soucek and PO3 Mark Freeman. The words "Thinking of departed friends is to me something sweet and mellow. For when I had them with me it was with the feeling that I was going to lose them, and now that I have lost them, I keep feeling that I have them with me still. As with the Intruder, these fine young men embodied the spirit of Naval Aviation and represented the finest this nation has to offer. They, and the Intruder, will always be with me.

Comments: I flew Army Hueys in and out of An Loc Apr-Jun 1972. Some A-6s blew some tanks away and I have the picture. If you want a picture of that and others of An Loc contact me email with your mailing address. The Navy did some tremendous work at An Loc because they ignored the USAF altitude restrictions.
