WNGE Alumni Page

The West Norriton Golden Eagles Wrestling Club is devoted to the development of young wrestlers for high school competition. The WNGE are coached by Mark Harner, and the Norristown High School team is coached by Steve Harner. Young wrestlers who joined the program at its inception in 1988 are now competing succesfully at the high school level. In 1997, Norristown High's Rickey Springman, a founding member of WNGE, won a PIAA AAA States title. Rickey graduated and has gone on to wrestle for the University of Pennsylvania. We expect additional success as young wrestlers move from the youth program to Norristown High School.

At the District 1 Regional competition on February 28, 1998 in Norristown, PA, senior Steve Fidler took first in the District 1 Regional competition and freshman Jim Hartey placed second.

Jim went on to place 4th at PIAA states competition in Hershey on March 8, 1998. Congratulations to Jim and the entire Norrsitown High program on another successful year!
