We feel strongly, that this river offers the best in fishing - year round! We have a hydroelectric flow control system, making our river fishable throughout the winter months.
Chinook and Coho Salmon run the river beginning in August and continuing thru October, with the best fishing in September and October. The Chinook Salmon can weigh up to 45 lbs and the Cohos up to 20 lbs. After fighting these strong fish, you will know that you've done a days work, and have some great memories to take home.
Steelhead trout come into the river around mid-October and remain there thru the winter and into May. The steelhead average 8 to 12 pounds (with an occasional brute up to 20 lb) and give the sportsman an excellent challenge! Also in October, Brown Trout move into the river. Not as numerous as the Salmon and Steelhead, but trophy Browns (average is 8 to 15 lb) will remain in the river until late November or early December.
Spring fishing brings back the Browns, March thru June are excellent for Brown Trout (limited catches). We also see Cohos, Rainbow and Lake trout during this season, and on occasion Chinook Salmon.
I have been fishing the waters of upstate New York for 20 years, and would like to share my knowledge. I'd like to help others have the same great experiences as I've had. We'll do a lot of walking, a lot of wading, and a lot of casting, or we can float down the river in the driftboat - stopping to fish whenever we like. I'll teach you some of the things it's taken me years to learn about the waters and the fish. You'll learn techniques and methods specific to this fishery, talk about the various flies that are used - and even learn something about flytying, if you're interested.

I am including a History of the Salmon River Fishery, written by Francis J Verdoliva Jr. Fran is the NYSDEC Salmon River Program Director. This history was distributed at the Salmon River Workshop, November 6, 1999. It gives excellent insight into the background of the area, and I think you'll find it to be very interesting reading!

If your trip includes the western Lake Ontario area, and you're interested in a lake charter
One of my interests is Fly Tying. If you're interested in fly tying also, check out the information on these links:
A little about my background - I was raised in Alaska, and grew up walking the streams and fishing. I've fished most of the east coast, and find that the fishing in upstate New York is among the best available. For the last 17 years you have been able to find me fishing the the Pulaski river and it's tributaries. Several years ago I decided to make it my living and I haven't regretted it. My clients and I usually walk the river during the fall and spring, during the winter we often float the river in the driftboat. Both methods of fishing the Pulaski River are highly enjoyable.
