Quick,
strong, can score the ball, and has the stickiest fingers in the game; "the
Glove" is your all around super point guard. He can score just as well as
Penny and them and pass almost as good as Stockton, but then add Gary's defensive
skills to the total package; you got yourself the top point in the league,
no doubt. Payton definitely has the most relentless D out there; remember,
he's won the defensive player of the year award.
As much as I liked Kemp, Payton was the best player on the Sonics those days. When Shawn was traded the Sonics were just as good as before, if not better. Gary had to step up his game. One of these days he's going to snag the MVP award.
