"THE ORGAN TRAIL" Think "There's Something About Mary".
Wacky comedy-romance about a good son who falls in love with his
evil brother's girl friend as they try to find him because their
mother needs a kidney transplant. Crazy and very funny.
"LOCK DOWN" A psychological thriller about a good cop who
has an emotional breakdown. While in a psychiatric facility, a
rash of suicides breaks out around him, driving him deeper into
his emotional battle with death. Not until the end do we find
out that the suicides are actually murders, committed by someone
hoping to punish him.
"STAR WITNESS" A Federal Marshal transportation specialist
tries to get his last surviving witness to a courthouse in
Washington D.C. before the government's case against the head
of a major crime family is dismissed. Cars, trains, helicopters,
etc., provide the moving environment as he fights to protect her
from the pursuing mob assassins.
"THE MIDDLE OF THE AIR" This heartwarming script is
based on a true story about a teacher for the deaf who, in
getting involved with a new student, learns to overcome her own
demons from having grown up with cold, uncaring parents. The
boy, orphaned at birth, is half black and half white, and Jewish.
Although she is a WASP, she decides to help him prepare for his
bar mitzvah, which takes over her life and almost causes her to
lose her boyfriend. In the end, the 3 become a family.
"CAPE RIVER" What happens when a black city cop and his
family take over the one man police station in the out-back of
Australia, where the Aborigines don't accept white law and the
whites don't respect blacks? Humor, action, drama. This is a
feature or pilot for a series. Many additional stories available
from the files of an actual out-back station.
"KATY" I consider this one to be a clear Oscar contender.
Romance, religious in-fighting, insight into the nature of man
and his surroundings. Takes place mostly in Africa, where a
religious leader goes to find happiness and freedom of belief,
after all of his teachings are challenged by his experiences with
a white ape who is so human in her actions and emotions that he
considers her to be worthy of being treated as if she were human.
This is a MUST READ for any company with the resources to produce
a film of this scope and vision.
"OUR LITTLE SECRET" (Sherry Lansing recently called it "a
wonderfully written screenplay that should be made by Miramax or
Fine Line.") A teenage trading-places comedy with a fantasy
element. Funny and entertaining, with a big heart.
"SARAH" (July '97 advanced to Quarter Finals of Academy
Foundation's Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting competition)
A young girl, born mute to a single mother in a small Wisconsin town,
grows up to be a savant artist who communicates only through her art.
Their lives turn upside down when the art world discovers her talent
and tries to exploit it.
"SIDE BY SIDE" A wonderful action/drama about the extreme
lengths a young white boy will go to to reunite with his black
blood brother during apartheid South Africa. The incredible
journey he takes to rejoin his friend and return to his homeland
includes stowing away on a cargo ship from Australia, then making
his way across several countries, all the way fighting off
threats to his life.
"CHANGE OF DESTINY" (Based on an incredible true story) This
is a powerful drama about a Finnish family who gives up
everything to travel to Russia during WWII in search of work.
The family is separated and put into prison camps, until
eventually they are re-united and plan their escape back to
Finland. Coverage from a production company too small to take on
a project of this scope said "It is very well executed and could
possibly be an Oscar contender."
"ONE WEEKEND IN VEGAS" Family romantic comedy. When a young
couple goes to Las Vegas for a business meeting they hope will
solve their financial problems, they meet up with a homeless boy
who cons his way into their lives. He drives them crazy while
making their meeting a success. Funny and heartwarming with an
emotional ending.
"THE COUNSELOR" A high school guidance counselor, driven by
public pressure to solve the neighborhood's gang problem, turns
to hypnotism to turn around a gang leader and make him the
solution. This is an intelligent character piece, not a hard
core gang exploitation film. You'll love the surprise ending!
"WHILE I WAS DEAD" Romantic comedy. The father of the bride-
to-be fakes his death, in conspiracy with the groom-to-be, when
the wedding is jeopardized by his daughter's obsessive attachment
to him after the accidental death of her mother. A great dual
role (the father and his twin brother) for a male lead. Don't
be fooled by the dark premise, this is full of humor and emotion.
"NO OFFENSE" Romantic comedy taking place in the excessively
politically correct near future. A man and his son are joined
with a young woman through the efforts of the boy and his robotic
best friend. It's tough for people to meet and get to know each
other when the political atmosphere stifles open communication!
"THE SNOW DOME" A classic children's Christmas story (think
"WIZARD OF OZ" in a fantasy North Pole). Could be live action,
animated, or both. Two children are whisked away to
a magical land inside a snow dome which is inhabited by strange
creatures (think merchandising!), where they think they are being
chased by a seemingly evil character as they strive to get to the
only man who can take them home. What they don't know is that
the man is Santa! There is a very human story involving respect
between a boy and his father, and the boy's decision to sacrifice
his wishes for his younger sister.
"THE WANNABES" A wacky comedy featuring the music
of Elvis, Roy Orbison, and Buddy Holly as performed by three
impersonators. These guys take Las Vegas by storm when they
hear that a new hotel is featuring oldies music and that other
hotels are seeking similar acts. If you think the 3 Stooges
and flatulence jokes are funny, you'll love this one.
Additional treatments and concepts for film and tv (including
sit-coms) available for development.
