We picked her up as an adult from her home with John & Paula in Miles
City, Montana, on our way home from the National Specialty in California
in 1988, and upon arrival at our house, she promptly stole meat off the kitchen
counter. She was especially fond of unguarded chicken. Always
a food hound, she sometimes drew blood when grabbing for bait in the show
ring.
She had been a kennel dog, and had the bad habit of chewing
her front legs all her life. She gradually became more socialized, and
learned to tolerate long car rides without trembling. She loved
to run. A study of beauty in motion, she
wore a path patrolling the fence line in the back yard.
She really didn't like to show, dropping her tail as soon as she entered
the ring. She hated to be hand-stacked, but could be free-stacked.
She was a double great-granddaughter of Ch. Ice Way's Ice Breaker,
and a granddaughter of Ch. Polar Mist Dr. Pepper, only two among her illustrious
ancestors. She never produced a litter of her own, but lives on in the pedigrees
of most of the other SFX pack.
In retirement, she spent most of her days in the house resting belly-up
on the couch. Until her final illness, she spent virtually every night on
our bed, until she could no longer jump up and down on her own.
At the end, her body failed her, but her spirit lives on...
We miss her.
