The Violet Ray is a Tesla coil contained in a
hand
held instrument that had a vacuum tube type wand at the end and was
used
mainly in the early 1900's as a quack medical treatment purportedly
capable
of curing whatever ails you. It emitted a pretty purple glow and a high
frequence, high voltage, low current shock that gave a tingling buzz
but
didn't really cure anything. I am told it may have actually killed head
lice, like a bug zapper kills mosquitos, but beyond that it was pure
quack.
They are actually still being produced and sold
by Baar Products which also has
replacement

I have bought several and need to move some along.
These are sold as collectors items only with no claim to cure
anything,
and may even in fact be dangerous to your health, especially if you
have
a pacemaker for your heart. They are sold in working condition but have
80 year old electrical parts that have no guarantee for longevity and
should
only be turned on for a minute or so at a time..
