Yasuni National Park Expedition

Ecuador 1999

Welcome to the Expedition Leader's web site. The Yasuni National Park Expedition was a nine-week research project with the Huaorani of Ecuador. The Huaorani were the last of Ecuador's indigenous groups to be contacted by missionaries in 1956. The eight researchers from Royal Holloway, University of London, worked with the Huaorani of the Rio Shiripuno, to examine the issues surrounding tourism in their communities and to document developments to their culture and way of life. The team were accompanied by a survival expert from Ridgefellows Outdoor Training Ltd., and a two-person camera-crew from Channel 4. Please follow the links below for more information. - Chris Abbott, Expedition Leader.
