Under 9's and 10's at the Evergreen 6 'A' Side Tournament

St Albans City Youth F.C. had two teams in the Evergreen 6-A-Side Tournament,  ending the day winning the Under 10's Section and Runners-up in the Under 9's.

The Under 10's South started the tournament with a fantastic first game victory over the home club Evergreen in which they beat them 2-0 with two great goals from James Smith.  They went on with further victories over Riverside Hibernian 'A', 2-0 and Acorn 'B' 3-0 with goals from Michael McDonough, 2 against Riverside Hibernian and efforts from George Hackett, James Rosson and Donald Bogle against Acorn.  In their final group match they lost 2-1 to Gadeside with Michael McDonough scoring but the Young Saints had done enough to reach the Semi-Final.  Michael McDonough also scored in the Semi-Final against Riverside AFC and this goal was enough to see them progress into the final with a 1-0 victory.  The final against Riverside Hibernian 'A' was a tough game until James Rosson broke the deadlock with a superb goal.  Riverside fought back and scored an equaliser to take the match into extra time.  In the first period of extra time Michael McDonough struck again for his fifth goal of the tournament and also the winning goal in a 2-1 victory for the Young Saints.  Well done lads.

The Under 9's North opened their account with a 2-0 victory over Herons 'B' with Harry Fountain and Jack Ashcroft scoring,  however in their next match they lost 2-1 to Gadeside with Ashcroft netting the only goal for the Young Saints.

So in their final group match,  which they had to win,  they defeated Boreham Wood JSC 2-0 with goals from callum Marjoram and Luke Campion to reach the Quarter Final on goal difference.  In the Quarter Final after another outstanding performance the Young Saints beat Croxley Guild 2-0 with callam Marjoram and Jack Ashcroft hitting the back of the net.  After yet another strong performance in the Semi-Final a Luke Campion effort saw the Under 9's North beat herons 'A' 1-0 to go through to the final.  In the final they played host club Evergreen 'A' and despite having many chances they just could not find the back of the net.  Harry Fountain was unlucky when he saw his well struck effort strike the crossbar.  There were lots of other near misses but with only fifteen seconds remaining Evergreen scored with a shot that just crept over the line, and it was also their first effort of the game.  Well done boys

CITY YOUTH F.C. CHAMPIONS   -   MIDWEEK YOUTH TRIUMPH

Many would have said that to top what has already been the most successful season in the history of St Albans City Youth F.C. would have been impossible.  However the Midweek Youth squad showed that there was still one more milestone to achieve by winning the Allied Counties Divisional League Championship Final.

The Young Saints had already secured Allied Counties Silverware by winning the East Division Championship earlier in the month.  They made sure of a place in the final by beating the South Division Champions Colliers Wood 1-0 in a tight game at Clarence Park,  and so to the final.  Taking place at AFC Wallingford the St Albans City Youth F.C. Midweek team played what was to be their final but most crucial match of the season against Thatcham Town F.C. in the Allied Counties Divisional League Championship Final.  The list of previous winners of this trophy shows just how far City Youth have come this season,  Reading,  Swindon Town, to name but two.

Thatcham had scored the most goals out of all the Allied Counties teams taking part in this years competition,  but they found the Young Saints Defence a very hard nut to crack indeed.  The Young Saints should have had a Penalty in the first minute when Iaian Turkentine's cross was handled just outside the six yard box, but all they got was a corner kick which was taken by Greg Deacon and saw a shot at the far post by Johnny Moore go just wide of the upright.  From yet another corner kick, taken by Deacon, saw the ball fall to Ben Graham but his effort was blocked and Jamie Parsons just failed to get a touch to the loose ball.  Jake Attwood then sprinted clear of a static Thatcham defence but his low drive went just wide of the post whilst a pass by the same player nearly found Johnny Moore in the clear but it was cut out at the last moment, otherwise it would have found Moore completely unmarked.

Just before half time Thatcham had a couple of chances but neither of these troubled Peter Hanson the Young Saints Keeper.  At the start of the second half the Saints came out to play football and not the long ball game Thatcham were trying to play.  St Albans quickly won a corner kick which was headed just wide of the upright by Jamie Parsons and then Greg Deacon nearly stole in but Daniel Jeanes, the Thatcham Keeper quickly cleared the danger.  At the other end Peter Hanson completely dominated his box and along with Central Defenders Mike Tominey and Trevor Smith they made sure the Saints goalmouth was never in any real danger.  Greg Deacon had a header flash just past the post after a fine cross by Matt Jones and then Deacon had a cross-cum-shot go just over the bat.  Iain Turkentine and Jake Attwood both had  efforts go very close, both of which were set up by Deacon.

With only ten minutes left the Young Saints finally broke the deadlock when Greg Deacon, yet again supplying a fine pass, this time to Johnny Moore.  Moore raced clear into the eighteen yard box and with Daniel Jeanes, the Thatcham keeper slow to come of his line Moore calmly steered the ball into the far corner of the net to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.  Although Deacon had a chance a couple of minutes later to make it 2-0 his well struck curling shot was well caught by the Thatcham Keeper.

The Winning Goal

This has been a magnificent end of the Season for City Youth and the Midweek Youth team.  This has been the Midweek Youth teams first season in the Allied Counties Youth League and all of the squad have exceeded all of the clubs expectations.

After the game the Team Captain  Trevor Smith was firstly presented with the Winners Shield for the East Division Championship then he proudly walked up to be presented with the Allied Counties Champions Cup by League Chairman Mr Ron Merryweather.

The Man of the Match award went to Johnny Moore,  Johnny was presented with his award, again by Mr Ron Merryweather.  During the presentations Mr Merryweather spoke of the excellent players on show and said that he hoped many would progress through to the professional ranks in the near future.  Also giving their support was City Youth President Mr George Walker and City Youth Chairman Mervyn Morgan,  the Chairman said that this was one of his greatest moments in Youth Football and the credit must go to Mark Clark and the Midweek Youth Management team for their total professionalism in achieving this remarkable triumph in their first season.

Well done to the City Youth Midweek Squad, Manager Clive Attwood, Assistant Ged Deacon, Super Coach Mark Clark and Fred Miniken, not forgetting Terry Edwards and Monkey the team mascot.

CLASH OF THE TITANS

UNDER 18's

In a very exciting match between the clubs two Under 18 sides saw the North team finally beat the City Youth South side 4-2 and also to take the League Runners Up spot.  Both Ollie Franks and Jamie Parsons went close for the South before Steve Craddock with a cracking shot from the edge of the box gave the North a 1-0 lead.  The South then put on the pressure for an equaliser with firstly Danny Hughes having his shot blocked by Luke Atkinson, the North keeper and then Ollie Franks following up saw his effort cleared of the line by Mike Tominey.  The pressure finally told when Greg Deacon, with a beautiful through ball sent Ollie Franks racing clear and with the North keeper coming off his line, Franks calmly slotted the ball past him to make the score 1-1.  Just before half time the South nearly took the lead when Danny Hughes saw his low drive blocked by the outstretched legs of Luke Atkinson, the North keeper.  Peter Hanson, the South keeper had an outstanding first half in combining his role as keeper and sweeper.  After about 15 minutes play in the second half the South took the lead when Kenny Hull, who had a great game, played the ball through for Greg Deacon to run onto and stroke the ball home from eight yards to make the score 2-1.  The North though quickly hit back when Johnny Moore made a surging run down the right and crossed the ball low whereupon Nick Clarke swept the ball into the back of the net from six yards.

Super Sub Andy Clarke had not been on the pitch long when after a brilliant solo run made the score 3-2 to the North when he drove the ball past Hanson from ten yards after he had beaten two defenders for pace.  Kenny Hull, for the South was unlucky when he saw his effort crash into the side netting.  But the North struck again to make the final score 4-2.  Johnny Moore, yet again, made a surging run down the right and this time it was Andy Clarke who swept the ball home for the North side to take the three vital points and also score his second goal of the game.

 This was the last competitive match for the Under 18's North in Youth Football, the club wish to thank Paul Tominey and the Under 18's North parents for their tireless support over the years,  well done Paul.

UNDER 14's

The Under 14's West were away to Garston Boys and at half time they found themselves 2-0 down with the Young Saints having atleast 60% of the play.  In the second half again the ball did not run for the Saints and Mark Savory was unlucky when he saw his header strike the foot of the post and rebound out.  Then Adam Stanley took a long throw which found Daniel McCafferty at the far post and his shot went just past the upright.  Ben Conrad was putting some deep crosses in the box but the ball just would not break for the Saints.  Then garston broke away and scored a third goal with a long range effort.  With only a few minutes left at last the Young Saints scored when James Brophy laid the ball back from an indirect free kick to Andy fassnidge who promptly drove the ball low into the back of the net to make the final score 3-1 to Garston Boys.  Some highlights from the after match festivities was the refreshments laid on by the Saints parents,  including Terry 'Van' Edwards favourites,  Strawberry Jam Sandwiches and Jill Savory playing Blue Moon on her Mobile Phone.

UNDER 12's

The Under 12's South were at home to Moor Park rangers in their final league match of the season.  The Saints took an early lead when an Edward Ridge was blocked and the ball fell to Phil Atkins to hook the loose ball home.  Moor Park though hit back to race into a 3-1 lead at half time, but not before the Young Saints had some hard luck with Phil Atkins having two efforts go very close and Edward Ridge then saw his low shot strike the foot of the post  and rebound back into play only to be cleared.  In the second half Phil Byrne, the Saints Keeper pulled of a few fine saves and Luke Sargent cleared one shot off the line.  Edward Ridge went close at the other end with one fine shot being tipped around the post at the last second.  Moor Park then scored a fourth goal and nearly scored a fifth but their penalty hit the post and the rebound was struck over the cross bar.

MIDWEEK YOUTH TEAM REACH THE FINAL

The St Albans City Midweek Youth Team played Colliers Wood united at Clarence Park in the Semi Final of the Allied Counties Midweek youth league Divisional Championship,  and after a hard fought but brilliant team performance the Young Saints won the match by a single goal to nil.

They nearly got of to a great start when a Johnny Moore shot was blocked on the line after a fine cross from greg deacon in the second minute of the game.  Then Mackail-Smith went close with two efforts that just cleared the crossbar and Deacon had a low drive hacked clear for a corner kick.  Craig mackail-Smith then had some hard luck when his fine curling shot struck the foot of the post with Grice, the Colliers Wood keeper well beaten,  yet again Deacon set the chance up.

Mackail Smith also had another effort kicked off the line by the keeper as it nearly sneaked in at the near post. Although Colliers Wood put pressure on the Saints defence in the first half they found Mike Tominey and Trevor Smith in fine form at the heart of the city youth defence.  Jamie Parsons, Ben graham and Mackail-Smith all had efforts that were blocked in the first few minutes of the second half.  The Saints then nearly took the lead when Paul Mears for Colliers Wood hit a backpass that bounced over his keeper and just cleared the crossbar by inches.  Peter Hanson, the Saints keeper then pulled off a fine save when he tipped a shot by Adam Fisk onto the crossbar and although the ball fell to Kelvin Lyons his effort went high over the bar.  Mark Sherwin had put the ball into the box following a free kick.  This was a vital save by Hanson because minutes later the Saints scored the only goal of the match.  Johnny Moore split the Colliers Wood defence with a fine cross to Jake Attwood who hit a cracking shot from 20 yards into the back of the net giving the keeper no chance.  

The Saints now play Thatcham in the Final at A.F.C. Wallingford on Wednesday 23rd May,  Kick Off 7.30.

UNDER 18's

Both Under 18's played double headers this weekend and both teams came away with six points each.  Firstly the South beat Evergreen 7-0 in both matches and must now play the Under 18's North to decide the Runners Up spot in the Division.  The goalscorers combined for both games are as follows,  Greg Deacon*3, Ollie Franks*2, Ben Graham*2, Kevin Webb*2, Peter Hanson, Matt Hills, Danny Hughes and Ryan Hughes.

The Under 18's North won 2-1 against Rickmansworth with goals from Michael Tominey and Nick Clarke in the first game.  In the second match a Nick Clarke brace saw the North win 2-0.

UNDER 16's  WIN THE LEAGUE

The Under 16's had to play Bedmond Echoes Amber away in their last League Match and the home side had to win this game to force a playoff for the Championship.  What a match it turned out to be,  exciting to the final whistle.  First Bedmond took the lead early on when the ball was headed home following a corner kick,  within seconds straight from the kickoff the Saints equalised when Allister Collins headed home from 10 yards after a great cross by Jake Attwood.  Chris Seeby, Matt Jones and Collins all had efforts saved in the first half but it was Bedmond who scored again when they broke clear and drove the ball low past Russell Garland to go 2-1 up at half time.  Again it was Seeby, Jones and Collins who all went close before at last the Young Saints equalised,  Sam Parratt took a quick throw in to Davey who laid the ball back to him and Parratt, after cutting inside a defender drove the ball low and hard with a shot that flew into the back of the net just inside the keepers right hand post.  This goal woke the Saints up and they finally went in front after Collins had been brought down inside the box for a penalty, jermaine Davey took the spot kick but his effort was pushed away, but Davey followed up to tuck the ball away and make it 3-2 to the Saints.  Davey then went close with a couple of shots whilst  a header was then tipped around the post for a corner kick.  Bedmond then snatched an equaliser to make the score 3-3 before Matt Jones with a beautiful through ball sent Jermaine Davey racing clear who promptly drove the ball from 18 yards into the back of the net to make the final score 4-3 to the Young Saints and also allowed them to win the League Title.

UNDER 15's WIN THE LEAGUE and CHALLENGE CUP

The Under 15's also won their league title when they drew 0-0 in their first game against Garston Boys whilst in the second match they again drew,  this time 1-1 with Kevin Hearne scoring the goal.  The Under 15's then played Enfield Rangers in the Challenge Cup Final at Evergreen and won finally by four goals to one to take their fourth trophy this season.  Matt Hanson drove the ball from just inside the box low into the back of the net after only 3 minutes play following a fine pass by James Harvey.  John telford nearly made it 2-0 but his rising shot went just wide of the near post whilst at the other end Winston Seidu pulled off a fine save to stop Enfield scoring the equaliser.  John Telford then hit a high 30 yard ball into the six yard box and somehow it slipped through the keepers fingers and just slipped over the line to give the Saints  a 2-0 lead at half time.  Early in the second half Seidu had to make two good saves but the Saints quickly struck again to go 3-0 up.  Matt Hanson went away down the left wing then surged past the full back and hit the ball to James Harvey who tucked it away at the far post.  Although the Saints were 3-0 up Enfield kept battling away and first another Seidu save and a Ricky Baker goal line clearance kept them out.  Kevin hearne made it 4-0 when Jason 'Peanut' Blythe slipped the ball to him and Hearne instantly looked up and saw the goal keeper off his line and with a delightful lob chipped the ball over him.  Enfield pulled a goal back in the last few minutes and also missed a penalty.

UNDER 12'S NORTH WIN THE LEAGUE

Another team making it Three league Titles won over the weekend was the Under 12's North when they defeated Boreham Wood 5-0.  Alex Herbert hit two fine goals to lead the scoring along with efforts from Alex Olcot, Ricky Miller plus one own goal.

UNDER 14's

The Under 14's West lost 3-0 away to Old Finchleians in the Challenge Cup Quarter Final.

UNDER 12's

Tim Attwood was named Man of the Match for the Under 12's South as they lost 4-1 at home to Bushey Rangers with Edward Ridge scoring their only goal of the game.

UNDER 11's

Playing a double header against London Colney the Under 11's South lost the first game 4-0 and the second match 5-2 with the Saints goals coming from Scott Corly and Chris Lord.

The Under 11's North lost 4-3 in a very close game away to Edson Santos with goals from Ethan Hughes, Liam McDermont and Adam Hunt.

UNDER 10's

The Under 10's North drew 0-0 at home to London Colney Amber with efforts from Youngs, Connor and Mayles all being saved whilst at the other end a brilliant one handed save by Dave Hancock in the final seconds ensured the Saints a point.

The Under 10's North then played a double header against Pinner Youth and they won the first game 3-0 with goals from Barnaby Mayles, Conor O'Connor and Nathan Sandiford.  In their second match they won 4-2 with efforts from Barnaby Mayles*2, San Youngs and James Rosson.

UNDER 17's

The Under 17's played Bovingdon at home in a double header and drew the first game 0-0 but won the second match 2-0.  Ollie Clegg scored two goals,  one in each half.  His second being just a touch from close range after Lewis Donnetts shot seemed to be heading for the back of the net.

UNDER 16's

The Under 16's also had a busy weekend with two league matches,  winning both and coming away with all six points.  Firstly they played Boreham Wood away in a hard fought match and won 4-1,  they also missed two penalties on the way with the Boreham Wood keeper saving both spot kicks. Jermain Davey scored the first goal with a crisp low drive from the edge of the box after Jake Attwood had cut the ball bock.  Then Chris Seeby hit the bar with a header following a Lawrence Anscombe free kick whilst Allister Collins struck goal number two with a lofted shot after Iaian Turkentine had played the ball into him with a great pass.  Goals number three and four both came from well taken corner kicks from Sam Parratt.  With Iaian Turkentine heading the first one home and then Nick Malham at the far post rising up to head home the final goal of the match.  Collins and Anscombe both had their spot kicks saved earlier in the game.  The Under 16's next played Chorleywood at home and were soon down 1-0 from a cracking shot which gave Russell Garland in goal no chance.  The Saints quickly fought back and Iaian Turkentine headed home the equaliser following a well flighted corner kick by David Hill.  Chorleywood though hit back to take the lead again.  But the Saints struck back again quickly to equalise.  A long ball over the top of the visitors defence from David Hill found Allister Collins racing clear and he calmly struck the ball home from sixteen yards to make it 2-2. After this goal the Saints gradually got on top and finally went 3-2 up when a Jake Attwood corner kick was nodded on by Nick Malham and Ollie Lutton at the far post headed home goal number three.  Right on half time the Saints went 4-2 up when a long throw in by Jermaine Davey was again nodded on by Nick Malham for Lawrence Anscombe to flick home from eight yards.  In the second half Jermain Davey made the final score 5-2 when he intercepted a poor back pass and after going around the keeper he calmly stroked the ball into the unguarded net.  Turkentine nearly made it 6-2 but his shot clipped the outside of the post.

UNDER 15's

The Under 15's also had two matches and firstly they beat Hemel Youth at home in the League 4-0 with two goals in each half.  the goals were scored by James Harvey, Kevin Hearne, Jason Blythe plus one own goal.  In their second game they played OMONIA away in the Challenge Cup Semi Final and won 4-2 with goals from Matt Hanson, Jason Blythe, Kevin Hearne and Raonull McKinnon.

UNDER 14's

Man of the Match Tom Barnard struck a superb hat trick for the Under 14's West as they beat Bushey Rangers 5-3 away in the league.  the other goals came from Robert Battersby and James Hearne.

UNDER 13's

A goal in each half from Adam hull earnt the Under 13's East a well deserved point in a 2-2 draw away to Northwood.

UNDER 12's

The Under 12's Mid herts came away with a 4-0 victory at Hertford Town with goals from Daniel maggott*2, John paton and a fine header from Tony pitt following a Daniel Dorans corner kick.  Although Callum Fowler hit a equaliser for the Under 12's South just before half time in their away match to Harpenden Barons,  Three second half goals from the home side saw the Saints finally lose 4-1.  The Under 12's North had mixed fortunes during the week when firstly they lost 5-0 to Sun Postals in the Challenge Cup Semi Final.  Ricky Miller hit the cross bar with a great shot from 25 yards and then Alex Herbert saw his well taken free kick tipped around the post at the last moment.  So it proved it was not going to be the Saints day.  The Under 12's North next played Evergreen away in the league and after only 5 minutes play they found themselves 2-0 down.  But the Saints fought back and finally ran out 5-3 winners.  Ricky Miller struck two goals as well as setting up Danny Norris for a well taken Header after a great corner kick.  Chris Haslam plus one own goal rounded off the scoring.

UNDER 11's / 10's

Playing with four regular players missing the Under 11's North team lost 7-0 away to a very strong Northwood team.  Two brilliant goals by Barnaby Mayles made sure that the Under 10's North beat Haringey 4-1 at home in the league whilst Sam Youngs and Tom Clark scored the other goals in this fine win.  Playing London Colney Amber in the League Cup final the Under 10's North finally lost 1-0 in a very tight match.

HERTS UNDER 12's COUNTY CUP FINAL

UNDER 12's NORTH MAKE IT A COUNTY CUP HAT TRICK FOR CITY YOUTH

Three County Cup Finals in a season,  Three County Champions.  The Under 12's North's victory in Sundays Herts F.A. County Cup Final capped a fantastic season for St Albans City Youth Football Club.  The Under 16's were first of the mark with their 3 - 0 win over Bedmond Echoes Red,  this was followed by the Under 15's 5 - 1 victory over Knebworth last week, and so to the Under 12's.  Playing Redbourn Juniors at Colney Heath F.C. the Under 12's took to the field knowing that they could be making history for the club by winning a third County Cup.  After only two minutes play the Young Saints opened the scoring when Danny Norris cracked a free kick from 30 yards against the cross bar and quick as a flash Chris haslam raced in to head the ball into the back of the net.  Although redbourn had most of the play in the first half they found young Joe Welch, the Saints keeper in excellent form in which he pulled off a couple of vital saves in the first half.  Early in the second half (22 seconds) Chris Haslam set up Ricky miller for goal number two with a fine strike after Miller had beaten a defender inside the box.  Given the playing conditions after a night of heavy rain both teams proved that they could battle to the end.  Well done to Howard and the lads.  After the match the Cup was presented to Club captain James Lawrence by Mr gary Norman of the Herts F.A.

HERTS UNDER 15's COUNTY CUP FINAL

HARVEY HAT-TRICK WINS IT FOR THE YOUNG SAINTS

The previous Sunday the Under 15's Played their County cup final at Leverstock Green against Knebworth Youth.

The Young Saints started brightly with first Matt Hanson going close and then Kevin Hearne having a couple of shots, one of which brought out a fine save by Ross Armstrong the Knebworth keeper.  The Young Saints finally took the lead when kevin hearne was sent racing clear by a great pass from Paul brame and then after going around the keeper hearne calmly struck the ball into the empty net.

it was sood 2-0 when matt hanson drove the ball home from 10 yards after a fine pass by Jason Blyth left him unmarked inside the box.  Knebworth quickly pulled a goal back when Conrad Wellstead hit a low drive from 18 yards after being set up by Paul Wright.  Winston Seidu, the Saints keeper had to be quick of his line to block a shot as Knebworth looked for an equaliser.  Kevin Hearne then had another cracking shot tipped over the bar whilst James Harvey saw his header go just over the cross bar as the Saints pressed forward just before half time.

Early in the second half the Under 15's went 3-1 up when a long kick upfield by keeper Winston Seidu broke kindly inside the box for James Harvey to strike the ball home from eight yards.  Hanson and Hearne both went close before a surging run by James Montague saw him slip the ball to James Harvey, who after beating a defender quickly made it 4-1 with a low drive from six yards.  Knebworth nearly pulled a goal back but the effort just cleared the bar whilst at the other end Ashley Pizan saw his cracking free kick tipped around the post by Knebworth keeper Ross Armstrong.  James Harvey completed hit hat trick when he headed the ball home at the far post from close range after a fine corner kick by John Telford and this goal made the final score 5-1 to the Under 15's.  Michael Emmett, Raonull McKinnon, plus Harvey all went close to increasing the scoreline but the Young Saints had done enough to make it Two County Cup wins so far this season for City Youth.  After the match the Cup was presented to Club Captain Paul Brame by Mr Colin Smith of the Herts F.A.  Well done to the two Alan's and the boys,  great stuff.

MIDWEEK YOUTH WIN THE ALLIED COUNTIES EAST DIVISION

The Young Saints Midweek Youth Team in their first season in the Allied Counties Youth League made sure of the East Division Title with a fine 2-1 victory at Wealdstone last Wednesday.  jake Attwood had the first chance when a long ball upfield by keeper Peter hanson fell to him inside the box but his shot was blocked by a defender.  Attwood then had another chance but his effort was tipped around the post by the Wealdstone keeper.  Johnny Moore had a shot kicked off the line following a Greg Deacon corner kick and then Ben Graham went close with a header after a Deacon free kick.  Peter Hanson then had to make a fine save when he tipped a cracking drive over the bar but in the 35th minute the Saints took the lead.  Jake Attwood played the ball across to Johnny Moore who promptly hit a low drive from 16 yards into the back of the net to make the score 1-0 to St Albans.  Both deacon and Attwood nearly increased the lead just before half time,  both deacons efforts were blocked whilst Attwoods was tipped around the post by the Wealdstone keeper yet again.

In the second half chances were few and far between on a very wet pitch but it was Ben Graham who sent a cracking shot just wide from 20 yards.  The Saints finally made it 2-0 when a Greg deacon cross found Jamie Parsons twelve yards out and he instantly cracked the ball home.  Wealdstone scored a late consolation goal when a deep cross by Gavin Court was scrambled home by Jermaine Bussette with about five minutes left on the clock.  Well done to The Midweek Youth Coaching Staff,  Mark, Clive, Ged and Terry,  and of course the players.

UNDER 18's

The Under 18's South played Bedmond Echoes on Friday evening in the Challenge Cup and lost 1-0 to an early goal.  On the Weekend they then played Harvesters away and won 3-2 after the score had been 1-1 at half time.  Scoring the goals for the Saints were Ollie Franks*2 plus a rare goal from Full back Matt Hills.

UNDER 17's

The Under 17's got back to winning ways with a sound 7-1 away victory at Kings Langley.  With dean Parsons and Ollie Clegg netting a Hat trick apiece.  Tom Fairbairn scored the other goal whilst Alex free worked tirelessly throughout the match in midfield.

UNDER 16's

In the first half of their away league fixture at herons the Under 16's did not play very well and so at half time they went in 1-0 down.  In the second half it was a different story,  both Seeby and Jones went close before Ollie Lutton, completely unmarked in the box, headed home a well flighted free kick by Lawrence Anscomb for the equaliser.  Jermaine Davey made it 2-1  with a great shot from 20 yards giving the Herons keeper no chance.  Jake Attwood hit the post  with a header before Chris Seeby set up Jermaine Davey to make the final score 3-1 with yet another fine strike,  this time from just inside the box.

UNDER 15's

At home to Garston boys in the Challenge Cup the Under 15's won easily by seven goals to nil.  Leading the goalscorers was Raonull McKinnon with four and then singles from Ashley Pizan, John Telford and James Montague in this midweek fixture.

The Under 15's over the weekend played Hemel Albion in a double header and the Young Saints won the first match 2-0 with goals from Matt Hanson and Jason Blythe.  In the second match the Young Saints turned it on to win 7-1 with Matt Hanson scoring a Hat trick.  The other scorers were Kevin Hearne, James Harvey, James Montague and Ryan Nicholas.

UNDER 14's

Away to Sun Postal Scorpions in the league the Under 14's East were losing 2-0 at one stage in the game but the Young Saints fought back to take all the points with a fine 5-2 victory. Leading the goalscorers was Jonathan Bar-Yaacov with a hat trick and then singles from Mark Savory and Andy Fassnidge.

The Under 14's West went out of the League Cup when they lost 3-1 at home to Hemel Aces in the Quarter Finals with Tom barnard scoring the Saints only goal of the match.

UNDER 13's

At half time the Under 13's West were losing 1-0 away to Hemel Celtic but a spirited fightback in the second half by the then ten players saw them win 2-1.  Phil Woolford put over a couple of stinging crosses which were both finished off by Rob Fasani and this victory now ensures the Young Saints of Runners Up in the League.  Well done lads.

UNDER 12's

The Under 12's were at home to Comet Cobras in the Challenge Cup and soon found themselves 2-0 down but in a spirited fightback they eventually won 3-2.  Chris Haslam scored the first goal with a lofted shot just before half time whilst Alex Herbert headed home the equaliser following a Danny Norris free kick.  Ricky Miller struck home the winner after his first attempt was blocked whilst Adam Potter made a great goal line clearance to ensure the Saints victory.

Although Edward Ridge scored two great goals for the Under 12's South, the first was a chip shot from 12 yards they still lost 5-2 to Oakhill Tigers.

UNDER 10's

A quality headed goal from Man of the Match Nathan Sandiford from a James Rossen corner kick was all the Under 10's North could offer as they lost 2-1 at home to Chalfont Saints.

The Under 10's South beat bedmond Echoes Amber 4-1 at home with Michael mcDonough scoring a Hat Trick bringing his tally for the season to 30.  Arron Shaw scored the other goal whilst reece May was named Man of the Match. In addition James Smith had an outstanding game on the left wing.

The Under 10's East played a double header against Gadeside Rangers and they lost the first game 2-0 but won the second 3-2.  man of the Match Alex Wallis hit a hat trick with Ben Carey and Chris Hamilton both having a hand in setting up the goals.

UNDER 9's

With a superb team performance the Under 9's North crushed Bedmond Echoes Orange 7-0 at home with Laurie Coupar scoring a hat Trick of which two of the goals were fine headers.  The other goals were scored by Harry Fountain*2 and Toby Irish*2.

HERTS UNDER 15's COUNTY CUP FINAL

HARVEY HAT-TRICK WINS IT FOR THE YOUNG SAINTS

The most important match of the day was the Under 15's Herts County Cup Final which was played at Leverstock Green FC against Knebworth Youth.

The Young Saints started brightly with first Matt Hanson going close and then Kevin Hearne having a couple of shots, one of which brought out a fine save by Ross Armstrong the Knebworth keeper.  The Young Saints finally took the lead when kevin hearne was sent racing clear by a great pass from Paul brame and then after going around the keeper hearne calmly struck the ball into the empty net.

it was sood 2-0 when matt hanson drove the ball home from 10 yards after a fine pass by Jason Blyth left him unmarked inside the box.  Knebworth quickly pulled a goal back when Conrad Wellstead hit a low drive from 18 yards after being set up by Paul Wright.  Winston Seidu, the Saints keeper had to be quick of his line to block a shot as Knebworth looked for an equaliser.  Kevin Hearne then had another cracking shot tipped over the bar whilst James Harvey saw his header go just over the cross bar as the Saints pressed forward just before half time.

Early in the second half the Under 15's went 3-1 up when a long kick upfield by keeper Winston Seidu broke kindly inside the box for James Harvey to strike the ball home from eight yards.  Hanson and Hearne both went close before a surging run by James Montague saw him slip the ball to James Harvey, who after beating a defender quickly made it 4-1 with a low drive from six yards.  Knebworth nearly pulled a goal back but the effort just cleared the bar whilst at the other end Ashley Pizan saw his cracking free kick tipped around the post by Knebworth keeper Ross Armstrong.  James Harvey completed hit hat trick when he headed the ball home at the far post from close range after a fine corner kick by John Telford and this goal made the final score 5-1 to the Under 15's.  Michael Emmett, Raonull McKinnon, plus Harvey all went close to increasing the scoreline but the Young Saints had done enough to make it Two County Cup wins so far this season for City Youth.  After the match the Cup was presented to Club Captain Paul Brame by Mr Colin Smith of the Herts F.A.  Well done to the two Alan's and the boys,  great stuff.

MIDWEEK YOUTH TEAM

The Saints Midweek Youth team were at home to Hayes in the Allied Counties League East Division.  The visitors had the first chance of the match when a shot crashed into the side netting.  The next chance fell to the Young Saints and it nearly resulted in a goal.  A corner kick taken by Greg Deacon found Johnny Moore and his low drive from the edge of the box was cleared of the line with the Hayes keeper well beaten.  Nick Baker then had a snap shot go just wide while an effort from Moore went just over the bar after he was set up by a fine cross by Jamie Parsons.  Ben Graham then had two shots,  the first was a half hit effort which was saved low down whilst his second was a long range drive which  saw the Hayes keeper pull off a fine save.

Ten minutes before half time the Young Saints were awarded a penalty when Ben Graham was pushed in the box as he tried to gather a pass from Moore.  greg deacon took the spot kick and drove the ball into the top right hand corner of the net giving the Hayes keeper no chance and so put the Saints 1-0 up at half time.

early in the second half Moore went close  on two occasions whilst Hayes had a shot that went right across the face of the goal.  hanson then pulled off a fine save from a shot from ten yards but he could do nothing when  an effort from Darren Whithock struck the foot of the post and was then promptly cleared.  Baker, Attwood and Moore all went close before a well struck shot from Ben Graham from all of 30 yards saw Robert Gillett, the Hayes keeper pull off a tremendous save by tipping the ball over the cross bar at the last moment.  Jake Attwood then saw his great curling shot clear the far post by inches whilst another effort went just past the other post. In the end it was another three points for the Young Saints and they now sit eleven points clear at the top of the table.

UNDER 18's

Both the Under 18's Sides had sound away victories with firstly the North beating North Mymms away 3-1.  Johnny Moore scored the first two goals in the first half whilst the third goal was an own goal following a Steve Craddock cross.  A Hat trick from Ryan Hughes helped the Under 18's South to an 8-1 victory at Rickmansworth with greg deacon and Adam Wallace both netting two goals apiece.  Jamie Parsons rounded up the scoring with a fine goal in the second half.

UNDER 17's

The Under 17's were at home to Chorleywood and the score at half time was 0-0 but in the second half the collapsed and finally lost 5-1 with Dean Parsons scoring the Saints only goal of the match.

UNDER 16's

Playing a double header at home to Northwood the Under 16's had to settle for a 1-1 draw in the first game.  Jake Attwood scored the Saints goal after being setup by a fine pass by Matt Jones.  In the second match the Saints missed a penalty when Chris Seeby's effort struck the cross bar whilst Jermaine Davey had a few shots go close and so the game looked as if it was going to end goalless.  With about five minutes to go the Saints struck twice to take all of the points.  Firstly Chris Seeby netted from close range after a pass from Jake Attwood and then Attwood beat a defender to the ball and promptly drove it passed the advancing keeper to make the final scoreline 2-0.

UNDER 14's

the Under 14's East had a busy week playing four matches with the first being a double header against Cassiobury Giants,  they won the first match 2-0 with two goals from Mark Savory.  They then drew the next match 2-2 with Harry Hunt and Edward Callow scoring.  next the played Pinnacle Youth red and earnt a 1-1 draw with a goal from Daniel McCafferty.  their last match saw them beat Evergreen away 5-1.  the goalscorers were Edward Callow*2, Harry Hunt, Mark Savory and Andy Fassnidge.

UNDER 13's

The Under 13's east played a double header against Cassiobury Clarets and lost the first game 6-0 whilst winning the second match 2-1 with Jack Woodley scoring plus one own goal.

The score at half time in the Under 13's West home match against Comet Mustangs  was 2-2.  But in the second half the Young Saints ran in seven goals to make the final scoreline 9-2.  The goalscorers were Rob Fasani*4, Andy Guard*3, Lawrence Gaiter and Phil Woolford,  This result now clinches the Runners Up spot in Division 3,  well done lads.

UNDER 12's

Goals from Chris Haslam and Phil Crump gave the Under 12's North a 2-0 victory at Enfield Rangers, whilst the Under 12's South lost 4-0 to Leverstock Green.

The Under 12's Mid Herts played Panshanger Yellow in a double header and won the first match 3-2 with goals from Jack Stevens, John Paton and Martin Claydon. In the second match they lost 2-1 with Guy Betteridge scoring the Saints only goal.

UNDER 11's

The Under 11's South lost the first game 4-0 to Hertsmere in a double header and they also lost the second match 4-2 with edward Morrison scoring a brace for the Saints.

Despite having most of the play the Under 11's North could only manage a 2-2 draw with Suffolk Youth Red away with Carl Costain and Jack Ridley scoring for the Saints.

UNDER 10's

The Under 10's North were away to Boreham Wood 2000 in the League Cup Semi Final and they turned in an excellent team performance to win the match 3-1.  Sam Youngs, Conor O'Connor and Joint Man of the Match christie Tyler who netted two minutes from time scored the goals for the Young Saints.  The other Man of the Match was James Rosen.

The Under 10's South played below par in their first game with OMONIA and so lost 2-0.  But in their second match they rolled up their sleeves and won 2-1 after being a goal down.  James Smith and Daniel Bissill scored with daniel butt being named Man of the Match.

Goals from paul Sandiford and Man of the Match Ben carey made sure of the points in a 2-1 home win over Edmonton Falcons for the Under 10's East.

UNDER 9's

A cracking goal from George 'Flash' Gordon two minutes from time made sure the Under 9's South earnt a 1-1 draw at home to Chipperfield.

Man of the Match Sam Crowne hit his first goal for the Under 9's North team and what a scorcher it was, it flew into the back of the net like a rocket from 40 yards(?). Further goals from Luke Campion*2, Toby Irish and Tommy Hunt (Also his first goal for the team) saw the Young Saints to a 5-0 victory over Enfield Rangers away.

UNDER 18's

Although the Under 18's North had most of the play in their home league match against Harvesters they just could not find the back of the net.  In the end it took a delightful chip shot from 25 yards from Johhny Moore to settle the match and so earn the Under 18's North a 1-0 victory.

The Under 18's South played a double header against Herons and they finally won the first match 1-0 when Greg Deacon, at the far post, volleyed home a Danny Hughes corner kick.  In the second match it was Greg Deacon again who gave the Saints a 1-0 lead at half time with a shot from 25 yards which the Herons keeper could not hold onto.  Craig Mackail-Smith made the final score 2-0 with a low drive from twelve yards after a fine pass from Adam Wallace.  Hendrik Hauke, the Saints Keeper making his debut looked quite sound between the sticks.

UNDER 17's

Losing 4-0 early in the second half to Boreham Wood at home the Under 17's started a fightback but they could only manage two goals.  Both of which were scored by Ollie Clegg.

UNDER 14's

The Under 14's East could only field 10 players but that was enough as they beat Comets away in the league 3-2.  Mark Savory scored two goals whilst Ed Callow scored the third after a fine battling team performance.

UNDER 13's

The Under 13's east took the lead with a goal from Chris McElligott in their home match with Chipperfield Corinthians.  the Young Saints then had to fight back to finally earn a point in a 3-3 draw with a cracking free kick from James Coad and another fine effort from Chris McElligott.

Just one goal from Andy Guard in the Under 13's West first match against Abbotts Youth in a double header earnt them a point in a 1-1 draw.  In the second game though Andy Guard struck twice with Craig Morrow once to earn the Saints a 3-1 victory.

UNDER 12's

Also playing a double header were the Under 12's North at Northwood and after playing some excellent football they won both matches by the same scoreline 3-0.  the goalscorers in the first match were Ricky Miller, James Eames and Danny Norris, whilst in the second match they were Alex Olcot, Phil Crump and Adam Potter.

The Under 12's South lost 1-0 away to Hemel Celtic in a league cup match on friday and they then lost 5-3 away to Tring Tornadoes in a league game on Sunday. The goalscorers for the young saints were Tim Attwood with a well taken penalty, Edward Ridge with a 20 yard lob and finally a goal from Carl Vidgen.

The Under 12's Mid Herts team went down 2-0 in both of their matches in a double header against league leaders Hatfield Town.

UNDER 11's

In their home league game against Edmonton Tigers the Under 11's North finally crushed them 9-1 after a half time score line of 2-1.  Two players were on hat-tricks,  Tom Collin and Ethan Hughes,  whilst Jack Ridley and Liam McDermont both scored one apeice.  Ben Goodyear scored the final goal when he ran from the half way line and after going round the Edmonton keeper calmly stroked the ball into the empty net.

UNDER 10's

The Under 10's North played Omonia away in midweek in the third round of the Challenge Cup and with both sides playing attacking football their were plenty of goals with the young saints finally winning 4-3.  Sam Youngs for the Saints struck a superb hat-trick with some clinical finishing whilst Christie Tyler hit a crisp low drive for the other goal.

In the Quarter Final of the Challenge Cup the Under 10's North lost 1-0 away to London Colney Amber to a penalty kick in the second half.

Playing away to Riverside  AFC in a double header the Under 10's South won 4-1 with Michael McDonough scoring a hat-trick whilst Reece May who was man of the match in both games scored the other goal.  In the second game the Young Saints lost 1-0.

And so to Sunday,  the Under 10's South played Wellend away in the league and won 6-1 with Michael McDonough striking yet another hat-trick taking his tally to 15 goals in the last 5 games.  The other goalscorer was man of the match James Smith who also scored a great hat-trick.  This was a fine display of passing from defence to attack with some clinical finishing.

The Under 10's East lost 1-0 away to Chiltern Seven despite a fine display from Simon Hammond the Man of the Match Midfield Dynamo.  

UNDER 9's

The Under 9's North played Harvesters South at home.  Midway through the first half Laurie Coupar scored two quick goals with shots from outside the box whilst a fine individual goal from Jack Ashcroft made the score 3-0 at half time.  With five minutes to go Harry Fountain scored a craking free kick from outside the box to make the final score 4-0 to the young saints.

HERTS F.A.   UNDER 16's  COUNTY CUP FINAL

St Albans City Youth F.C.  Under 16's  v  Bedmond Echoes Red

Played at Baldock Town F.C.

Playing Bedmond Echoes Red in the Herts FA Under 16's County Cup Final were the Under 16's of City Youth F.C. What a day it turned out to be with the Young Saints turning in a fantastic team performance to win convincingly by Three goals to Nil.   In the words of Coach Mark (Clarky) Clark, "every member of the team gave 100%,  this is as good as it gets".

Allister Collins had the first chance for the Saints after being sent clear by Lawrence Anscomb, but Collins shot went just past the post.  Jermaine Davey was also unlucky when his well struck low drive hit the foot of the far post and rebounded back into play only to be cleared.  Next to hit the woodwork was the Chairmans Man of the Match Iain Turkentine when his hooked shot, following a Davey long throw struck the foot of the other post, again only to be cleared.  Both efforts saw daniel Rice, the Bedmond keeper, well beaten.  Nathan Maycock, Jack Attwood, Collins, Davey and turkentine all went close but that vital goal just would not come and so the score remained 0-0 at half time.

Early in the second half the deadlock was finally broken when after a surging run by Allister Collins towards the Bedmond goal was finally blocked on the edge of the box but the ball ran loose to Jermaine Davey who hit an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net from 20 yards giving the Bedmond keeper no chance..  Two minutes later it was 2-0 when following a poor goal kick the ball fell to davey just outside the box but his shot was blocked and Allister Collins following up scored with a diving header from six yards.  bedmond did try to pull a goal back but Sam Parratt was on the line to clear a Mark Hook effort away.  Davey then had a well struck shot brilliantly saved by the Bedmond Keeper daniel rice whilst Jake Attwood had a fine effort strike the cross bar as the Saints pressed forward for that third goal.  They did not have to wait long,  Davey won the ball on the half way line,  slipped the ball to Attwood who after looking up saw Matt Jones sprinting down the middle of the pitch unmarked.  Attwood played the ball to Jones who calmly lobbed the keeper from the edge of the box to make the final score 3-0.  Well done Lads and manager Clive Attwood and Coach Mark Clark.

The Cup was presented to the Young Saints Captain Lawrence Anscomb by Mr B. C. Day of the Herts F.A.  Many thanks to Baldock Town F.C. for the facilities.

UNDER 18's

The Under 18's South played Bedmond Echoes Red (U18's) at home in the League.  The Saints went down 3-1 after giving away two sloppy goals, on in each half.  Greg Deacon scored the only goal for the Saints with a fine shot just before half time.

UNDER 13's

The Under 13's East were at home to Chiltern United in the League and after a fine team performance finally won the match 7-0 after taking a 4-0 lead by half time.  Richard Collin scored a stunning first half hat-trick whilst the other goals came from Scott Moore, Tom Clark, Ashley Funnell and Chris McElligott.

UNDER 12's

The two top teams in Division One of the Bushey Friendly League played each other and the Under 12's North came away with from Sun Postals with a fine 3-1 victory and so tighten their hold on the top position.  Ricky Miller scored two goals in the first half and although Sun Postals pulled one back a further goal from Alex herbert made sure of the points for the Young Saints.

The Under 12's South played a double header against Hemel Celtic and although they won the first match 3-2 they lost the second 2-1.  Ruaridh MacPhee scored the first goal in the first game after Edward ridge had beaten four players to set him up.  Callum (Chopper) Fowler struck number two whilst Luke Sargent scored the third with a fantastic 20 yard free kick.  The Saints goal scorer in the second match was Ruaridh MacPhee.

UNDER 11's

The Under 11's North also played a double header and lost both matches 3-1 against Sun Postals with Carl Costain scoring in the first game and Tom Collin in the second.

Also losing both matches in a double header was the Under 11's South who went down 3-0 and 1-0 respectably to Harpenden Panthers.

UNDER 10's

Goals from Barnaby Mayles and Sam Youngs were not enough for the Under 10's North as they lost 3-2 at Enfield Warriors in the league recently. The Under 10's North were also at  Chalfont Saints in the League Cup Quarter-Final and they came away with a 2-1 victory after extra time.  Barnaby Mayles scored the first goal with joint man of the match Sam Youngs hitting the winner in extra time.  James Rossen was the other Man of the Match.

Playing at home to ASTOS were the Under 10's South and they finally won the match 5-4 after an end to end game with Michael McDonough carry on from his five goals last week with another four (Great show Michael).  Daniel Bissill scored the Saints other goal.

The Under 10's East played a double header against Chorleywood Blue and a Paul Sandiford goal saw them win the first match 1-0.  In the second match they lost 2-1 with Chris Hamilton scoring the Saints only goal.

UNDER 9's

Man of the Match Toby Irish struck four superb goals as the Under 9's North beat Palace Youth West at home by four goals to two.  Jack Ashcroft and Matt Henson had fine games in the Young Saints defence.

UNDER 16's

The Under 16's were at home to Bedmond Echoes Blue in a League match. Two goals in the final 10 minutes saw the Saints finally win 3-0. Jake Attwood, Chris Seeby, Matt Jones and Lawrence Anscombe all went close whilst a Iain Turkentine effort was kicked off the line. Then a Jermaine Davey shot from just outside the box struck the crossbar with the Bedmond keeper well beaten. At last the Saints finally opened the scoring when, following a long throw by Jermaine Davey to Iain Turkentine in the six yard box who then laid the ball back to Chris Seeby who promptly drove it home from six yards. Although the Saints had most of the play they could just not score that second goal and once again Turkentine had an effort cleared off the line, this time a header following a corner kick by Jake Attwood. Then it happened, two goals in three minutes. The first was scored by Jermaine Davey with a terrific low drive from sixteen yards, past the advancing keeper after he had been set clear of the Bedmond defence by a fine 30 yard crossfield pass from Sam Parratt. The next goal was struck home by Chris Seeby with a low shot from 25 yards that flew in to the back of the net via the foot of the post. The goal came about after a poor goal kick by the Bedmond keeper which found Seeby completely unmarked thirty yards out. Both Seeby and Davey went close to scoring another goal apiece but their efforts were saved.

UNDER 14's

Playing Chorleywood Common at home in the League Cup 2nd Round saw the Under 14's East cruise into the next round after a fine 8-0 victory. Scoring the goals were Harry Hunt*2, Mark Savory, Andy Fassnidge, Ed Callow, Danny McCafferty, Jonathan Bar-Yaacov, plus a great twenty five yard volley from Ben Conrad. Although the Under 14's West played well at home to the Old Finchleains they were losing 1-0 with five minutes to go when up popped Tom Barnard to snatch a late equaliser after fine work by Callum Anderson and Rob Battersby.

UNDER 13's

The Under 13's East were away to Suffolk Youth Eagles and they finally lost 9-2 with the score at half time being only 3-1. Richard Collin and Scott Moore scored the Saints goals.

UNDER 12's

Playing League leaders Comet Rangers at home the Under 12's Mid Herts went down 8-0 after a late collapse when the score was only 2-0 with ten minutes of the match remaining.

UNDER 11's

Ethan Hughes scored the only goal for the Under 11's North as they lost 4-1 at home to London Colney Amber in the League Cup. Losing 1-0 at half time at home to Edson Santos the Under 11's South were unlucky not to snatch a point in the second half when both Ryan Atkins and Scott Corley had efforts cleared off the line.

UNDER 10's

The Under 10's South were losing 3-2 at half time at Chipperfield Corinthians but some clinical finishing from Michael McDonough throughout the match saw him score five goals as the Saints fought back to win the match 5-3. Right back Jimmy Armstrong was named man of the match whilst midfielder James Smith also had an outstanding game. This was an excellent team performance. A team nearly making a great fightback were the Under 10's East, when in their fixture away to Leverstock Green they found themselves 5-0 down but they finally lost 5-3. The goalscorers for the Young Saints were Ben Carey Lewis Fadhel and Chris Hamilton, whilst Andy Milton the Young Saints keeper was named Man of the Match.

UNDER 9's

The Under 9's North had to settle for a 0-0 draw away to Boreham Wood JSC with Laurie Coupar nearly breaking the deadlock but unfortunately his shot struck the post. Harry Fountain was named Man of the Match. Losing 2-0 at half time to Harvesters East the Under 9's South fought back to 2-2 with goals from Nathan Byrne and Ben Riddell, but a goal late in the game saw the Saints eventually lose 3-2. George Hind was named Man of the Match and he also set-up the first goal for the Young Saints after a fine surging run.

MIDWEEK YOUTH TEAM

Last Wednesday at Clarence Park the Midweek Youth team played Ruislip Manor in the Allied Counties Midweek Youth league and picked up a further three valuable points with a battling 3-1 performance.  Both mackail-Smith and Baker went close with low shots while Parsons sent a header just over the bar following a Greg deacon corner as the Saints looked for that early goal.

After 16 minutes the Saints took the lead when Craig mackail-Smith made a surging run down the right wing and after beating a defender by the corner flag he crossed the ball to Johnny Moore who was just outside the six yard box,  moore promptly slotted the ball home.  Ben graham went close with a header following yet another Deacon free kick and then in the thirty second minute it was 2-0.  Johnny Moore played the ball inside to Greg Deacon who calmly picked his spot and drove the ball low past the goalkeepers dive and into the bottom right hand corner of the net.  Ruislip pulled a goal back early in the second half when a Dean Lanchester shot was blocked and Dave Lawrence tucked the loose ball away.  Mackail-Smith, Jones and Parsons all had efforts which just went wide before the Saints scored that third goal.  Nick Baker won the ball just outside the box and slipped it to Johnny Moore who after turning a defender sent the ball crashing into the roof of the net from twelve yards for a great goal.

UNDER 13's

The Under 13's East were playing away to League leaders Bushey rangers and although the young Saints battled hard they just could not get the break and went down 7-1.  Richie Collin scored the consolation goal for the Saints.  Whilst Scott Moore who has had an outstanding season in midfield was named man of the match.

In a top of the table clash the Under 13's West were away to London road,  they found themselves 1-0 but hit back with man of the match Craig Morrow hitting two fine goals to take a 2-1 lead.  London Road came back to equalise and then to score the winner in the dying seconds of the match so denying the Saints a point.

UNDER 12's

The Under 12's North were playing away to Bushey Rangers in the Challenge Cup and they came away with a fine 3-1 victory.  The Young saints goals were scored by Chris Haslam, Ross Court and Russell Gallagher.

UNDER 11's

Turning in a below par performance at Belmont United saw the Under 11's South go down by five goals to nil.

UNDER 10's

Playing away to Bedmond Echoes Amber in a league match saw the Under 10's South go behind to an early goal.  Man of the match Donald Bogle struck a 20 yard scorcher to bring the Saints back into the game.  Bogle then scored a second goal and Michael McDonough hit a third goal to give the young saints a 3-1 victory after a fine team performance.

Playing Harvesters away the Under 10's East went into half time with a 1-0 lead following a goal from Troy petchey,  it could have been more but a Ben Carey shot struck the crossbar and was saved on the goal line.  The Under 10's East then scored three more goals through tristan Augier, Ben Carey and Chris Hamilton to give the Under 10's East a 4-1 victory after a fine team performance.

UNDER 9's

Making his debut for the Under 9's North was Tommy Hunt who had an outstanding game against Bedmond Echoes Amber.  But the young saints finally went down 2-0 despite a fine battling performance.

MIDWEEK YOUTH TEAM

The Saints Midweek Youth team were at home to Wealdstone last Wednesday in a Allied Counties East Division league fixture,  and after only five minutes they had scored two great goals to take the lead.  Nick Baker set up Craig Mackail-Smith for the first goal who promptly drove the ball under the advancing keepers body after two minutes.  Then some fine passing between Baker  and Greg Deacon gave Mackail-Smith the chance to score goal number two with a brilliant low drive from the edge of the area.  After this goal the Saints went to sleep and Wealdstone hit back and won a penalty for handball which Jermaine Busette scored from despite Peter Hanson getting a hand to the ball and nearly pulling off a fine save.  Trevor Smith had to clear the ball of the line as Wealdstone pressed forward for the equaliser.  Turkentine, Parsons and Moore all went close at the other end before the visitors snatched an equaliser against the run of play when Nathan Lewis scored a simple tap in after a cross from Nachmias found its way across the six yard box.  On the stroke of half time the Saints regained the lead when a throw in by Turkentine found Johnny Moore in the box and he promptly turned his marker and drove the ball low inside the near post to make the score 3-2 at half time.

In the second half the Saints gradually go on top with Baker, Parsons, Deacon and Turkentine all going close.  The Saints finally scored a fourth goal when Greg Deacon slung over a free kick and Iaian Turkentine drove the ball home from the edge of the six yard box.  The Wealdstone keeper, Charlie Cleary then had to make two fine saves from Mackail-Smith to stop him getting a hat trick.  This result keeps the Saints top of the Allied Counties East Division Mid Week Youth league and extends their lead to five points.

UNDER 18's

The Under 18's South were away to hemel Albion and at half time they had raced into a 4-0 lead with goals from Adam Wallace*2, Greg Deacon and Kenny Hull.  In the second half though they found themselves down to 10 players when goalkeeper Peter Hanson was sent off and although hemel pulled two goals back the Saints hung on to win the match 4-2.

UNDER 16's

The Under 16's played a double header against Nascot Wood and despite a shaky period midway through the first game the Young Saints finally won 3-1.  Jermaine Davey scored the first two goals with two low drives whilst Jake Attwood scored the third with a simple tap after a fine run and cross by Matt Jones.  Nathan Maycock hit the post and Allister Collins hit the cross bar.  In the second game the Under 16's took an early lead when Jake Attwood calmly chipped the goalkeeper from the edge of the box.  Nathan Maycock headed home goal number two from an Attwood freekick and then up popped Jermaine Davey with two deadly strikes after being setup by Turkentine and Jones respectively to make the score 4-0.  Chris Seeby struck the crossbar from 35 yards as the Saints looked for more goals and when the fifth goal came it was from Ollie Lutton with a cheeky backheel from one yard after Sam Parratt corner kick fell to him inside the six yard box.  The Saints scored their six goal to make the final score 6-0 and what a cracker it was when Matt Jones drove the ball into the top corner with a shot from 20 yards.

UNDER 15's  -  COUNTY CUP SEMI FINAL

The Under 15's had to play their County Cup Semi-Final away to panshanger Whites and at half time they led 1-0 to a fine goal from Matt Hanson.  The Young Saints then scored further goals through Kevin hearne, James Harvey and a header from Ryan Nicholas to race into a 4-0 lead before Panshanger hit back with two goals.  Ricky Baker scored the Young Saints fifth goal from the Penalty Spot to make the final score 5-2 and also become the clubs third team this season to reach a County Cup Final -  Well done to Alan Paradise and Alan Montague,  and of course the players, a great achievement.

UNDER 14's

Goals from mark Savory, Anthony Warren, Harry Hunt and Ben Conrad saw the Under 14's East win 4-0 at bedmond Echoes Amber in the first match of a double header.  In the second game though the Saints went down 3-1 with ben Conrad scoring the East's only goal.  

Playing Enfield Rangers at home the Under 14's West went down finally 3-2 despite fine goals from Ian Smith, a free kick from 20 yards and a great strike from Tom Barnard.

UNDER 13's

The Under 13's East were 3-0 down at half time to Chorleywood Red but a goal early in the second half from Scott Moore started the fightback.  Two goals from Richie Collin brought the Saints level and then with five minutes to go James Coad struck the winner to make the final score 4-3,  What a comeback,  well done lads.

UNDER 12's

In a top of the table clash the Under 12's North had to settle for a point in a 0-0 draw with Sun Postals and the Young Saints had to thank goalkeeper Joe Welch who had an outstanding game between the sticks.

The Under 12's South were at home to Chorleywood Red and at half time the score was 1-1 with the Saints goal coming from Jim Byrne after being setup by Edward Ridge.  Early in the second half Jim Byrne made it 2-1 with a cross-cum shot and Ruaridh McPhee, making his return after a loan spell to the Gang Show at the Arena, made it 3-1 with a close range effort from a pass from Callum (Chopper) Fowler.  Chorleywood made it 3-2 late in the game but the Young Saints held on to take all three points.

Playing Bengeo Tigers away the Under 12's Mid herts went down 4-1 with Tony Pitt scoring a late consolation goal.

UNDER 11's

In a double header the Under 11's North won their first match against Palace Youth 3-1 with Tom Collin scoring a Hat-trick.  Two defensive errors in the second game saw the Young Saints only pick up a point in a 2-2 draw with goals from Ethan Hughes and Alex Potter.

UNDER 10's

Also playing a double header were the Under 10's North  and they had mixed fortunes as well.  In the first game they won 3-0 with goals from Sam Youngs, James Rossen, who was also man of the match, plus a superb drive from 20 yards by Conor O'Connor.  In the second game the Young Saints failed to create any chances and the match finished 0-0.

At home to hemel Lions the Under 10's East took all the points in a 4-2 victory with goals from Troy petchey*2, Ben carey and one from man of the match Lewis Fadhel.

UNDER 9's

The Under 9's North won 2-0 at home to Edmonton Hawks with goals from Toby Irish, a right footed shot, and a fine solo effort from Matt Henson.

The Under 9's South played Hertsmere.  The score was 0-0 at half time but man of the match Tommy Hunt who was also in goal for the first half came out onto the pitch and then set up two goals for Nathan Byrne early in the second half.  Although Hertsmere hit back Tommy Hunt struck two goals for himself to see the Young Saints finally win 4-3.

UNDER 18's

The Under 18's North were away to Garston Boys and after a very hard first half the Saints finally won the match 2-0 with two well taken goals by Trevor Smith.  Leading 3-0 at half time away to Hemel Youth the Under 18's South let it slip in the second half but still managed  to win 5-2.  The goalscorers  were Adam Wallace, Danny Hughes, Jamie Parsons, Craig Mackail-Smith and the first goal of the season for Kenny Hull.

UNDER 17's

The Under 17's played a double header against St Albans Rangers  and they won the home tie 1-0 courtesy of a goal by John Lyon.  In the next match the Saints were 2-0 down but fought back to earn a point with a 2-2 draw thanks to goals from David Guard and John lyon.

UNDER 16's  -  County Cup Semi-Final

Playing Symonds green at home in the County Cup Semi Final the Under 16's with a brilliant performance won 2-0 with two well taken goals in the second half.  Allister Collins and Nathan Maycock both went close with headers in the first half whilst Jermaine Davey saw his 20 yard low drive tipped around the post.  In the second half the Young Saints started to really put the pressure on and both Iaian Turkentine and Lawrence Anscomb were unlucky when they saw their efforts kicked off the line.  At last, mid way through the second half the break through came,  Jermaine Davey slung over an inch perfect pass to the farside of the box to Allister Collins who promptly drove the ball low into the bottom right hand corner of the net.  The Under 16's then won a penalty a couple of minute later,  but Collins spot kick hit the foot of the post and rebounded back into play and was cleared.  The Young Saints scored their second goal with five minutes left when jermaine Davey hit the ball into the edge of the box and Matt Jones came racing in to send a looping header over the keepers head to make it 2-0.  The Saints defence had an excellent game,  well done lads.

UNDER 15's  -  County Cup Quarter Final

The Under 15's playing away in the Quarter Finals of the County Cup against Wymondley Park.  The Young Saints won the match 9-2 after being 5-1 up at half time.  The goals came from Kevin hearne*4,  James Harvey*3, Troye Pienaar and Matt Hanson.  Well done lads.

UNDER 14's

After trailing 1-0 at half time away to Harvesters North the Under 14's West hit back with three goals in six minutes early in the second half to win 3-1.  The goals came from Alex Phillipps*2 and Ollie Minton.

Playing away to Pinnacle Youth in the league the Under 14's East came away with a hard fought 1-1 draw.  The home side took the lead two minutes into injury time but the Young Saints hit back with virtually the last kick off the match when Mark Savory forced the ball home during a goal mouth scramble.

UNDER 13's

The Under 13's West are really on form with a 9-0 thrashing of Herons with Rob Fasani notching 5 goals.  The other goals came from Andy Guard with a hat trick and a single from Bob Singh to round up the scoreline.

The Under 13's East picked up six points in a double header with Winchmore Hill with a 2-0 victory in the away fixture with goals from Richard collin and Tom Clark.  They then won the second match 4-2 with goals from Adam Hull*2 (Adam had a great game) whilst the other efforts came from Tom Clark and Chris McElligott.  Steve Kirikal,  the Saints keeper was named Man of the Match.

UNDER 12's

Losing their first match of the season were the Under 12's North who went down 5-1 away to Greenacres with James lawrence scoring a late consolation goal for the Saints.

The Under 12's South had mixed fortunes playing a double header against Nascot Wood Rangers.  They won the first match 2-0 with the goals coming from Callum (Chopper) Fowler ,who was inspirational in Mid Field, with a fierce drive into the top corner, and Jim Byrne scoring a delightful chip from the edge of the box.  The Young Saints could not match the form of the first match when it came to playing the return going down 2-0.        However the Saints stand-in Keeper Phil (Teflon) Byrne played out of his skin with some breathtaking saves.

Ben Jacobs scored the only goal for the Under 12's Mid Herts team as they lost 4-1 away to Pryden Youth in a double header.  In the second match the Young Saints went down 2-0 despite a battling performance.

UNDER 11's

Also playing a double header were the Under 11's North and they lost 2-0 in the first match with Whetstone whilst in the second game they finally lost 5-2 with goals from Ben Goodyear and Carl Costain.  The Under 11's South drew 0-0 with Omonia in their first game of a double header and the Young Saints lost the second match 3-1 with Scott Pointer scoring the Saints only goal.

UNDER 10's

The Under 10's North lost the first match 1-0 in a double header with Northwood but the Young Saints managed to pick up a point in a 1-1 draw in the second game courtesy of a Nathan Sandiford equaliser.  Christie Tyler and Conor O'Connor were both named Man of the Match for the Saints.

The Under 10's South in a tough game away to Aldenham Warriors finally lost 3-2 with Michael McDonough and james Smith scoring for the Saints.  Daniel Butt was named Man of the Match for the Saints.

UNDER 9's

Playing away to Bedmond Echoes Orange the Under 9's North won 6-1 after a brilliant team performance of passing and attacking football.  Luke Campion hit a Hat trick with two of his goals coming from powerful shots from 20 yards.  The other goals came from Laurie Coupar, Harry Fountain and Jack Ashcroft.

Gareth Smith scored the only goal for the Under 9's South as they lost 7-1 at home to London Colney Amber. George Gordon who played in goal for the first half and Nathan Byrne for the second half both had fine games,  well done boys.

ST ALBANS CITY RESERVES

Last Wednesday at Clarence park against Stevenage Reserves the Youth Squad fielded 11 players out of the 14 used in this reserve fixture.  Stevenage,  who sent a very strong squad won 5-0 but not after a fine battling display by all eleven St Albans City Youth players who played.  The City Youth Players used were as follows:  Russell Garland, Ollie Lutton, Chris Seeby and Jermaine Davey,  all from the Under 16's,  and trevor Smith, Michael Tominey, Kenny Hull, Greg Deacon, Ben Graham, Jamie Parsons and Johnny Moore, all from the Under 18's.  Well done lads.

MIDWEEK YOUTH TEAM

The Young Saints Midweek team played away to Ruislip Manor in a league match.  It did not take them long before they opened the scoring when Craig Mackail- Smith won a corner kick which was taken by greg (The Cat) deacon and Jamie Parsons nodded the ball on for Adam Wallace (On his debut) to drive the ball home from eight yards to score at the far post.  The goal came after seven minutes and although the Young Saints had had most of the play they could just not score a second goal.  Then in the space of a minute they had two efforts cleared of the line.  Ben graham had the first shot cleared after a fine cross by Mackail-Smith.  Then seconds later roles were reversed with a Mackail-Smith effort being hacked clear after being set up by Graham.  At the forty minute mark the Young Saints at last scored the second goal when from yet another Greg Deacon corner Michael Tominey lashed the ball into the roof of the net at the near post.  Johnny Moore was unlucky just before half time when he saw his low drive hit the foot of the post and rebound back into play,  Ollie Lutton set him up.

Early in the second half Ruislip pulled a goal back when Matt Attack headed home from close rang and it needed a fine save from Peter Hanson when dean Lanchester broke clear in the last minutes to make sure the Young Saints won the match 2-1 and still remain at the top of the table.

UNDER 18's

The Under 18's North were at home to Herons and went down 2-1 with Ollie Gilles netting the Saints goal as they tried a late fight back,  but the visitors held on to take all the points.

UNDER 17's

Also playing a double header were the Under 17's and they won their first match 2-0 away to Chipperfield with goals from Sam Wilkinson and Charles Thrussell.  In the second game the Young Saints went down 1-0 despite a battling performance to try and earn the point.

UNDER 16's

The third team to play a double header were the Under 16's who were away to Harvesters,  they also had mixed fortunes over the two matches.  In their first match the Young Saints were 3-1 down at one stage but they fought back only to lose the match 4-3.  Allister Collins scored the first goal from close range after David Hills header was blocked following  a long throw into the box by Jermaine Davey. Goal number two was scored by Nick Malham from a tight angle after Collins header was hooked clear of the line.  Allister Collins also hit hit the post with a header following a Sam Parratt free kick.  The Young Saints third goal was struck home by Jermaine Davey after he was sent clear by an inch perfect pass by Matt Jones.  As the keeper came off his line Davey calmly drove the ball past him into the bottom right hand corner of the net.  In the second match the Saints won 1-0 thanks to an early goal by Allister Collins with a diving header at the far post.  Collins also hit the bar with a shot whilst Lawrence Anscomb hit the foot of the post with a cross-cum-shot.

UNDER 15's

The Under 15's dropped their first league points of the season in a below par performance at home to Evergreen with a 0-0 draw.

UNDER 14's

Although the Under 14's East had chances to earn atleast a point in their home match against Garston Boys,  in the end they had to settle for none in a 1-0 defeat.

UNDER 12's

Well taken goals by Chris Haslam and Ross Court earnt the Under 12's North a 2-1 victory at home to Comet Cobras in the League.  Playing away to Bedmond Orange the Under 12's South recorded a fine 2-0 win with Phil Atkins scoring the first goal from twelve yards after Tim Attwood had driven over a corner kick.  Edward Ridge scored the second goal after he outpaced the Bedmond Defence and drove the ball home.  Jim Byrne had two fine shots saved by the Bedmond keeper in the second half.

UNDER 10's and 9's

The Under 10's East went down 1-0 away to Edmonton Falcons whilst the Under 9's North finally lost 5-1 away to hertsmere to three late goals as the Young Saints tried to snatch an equaliser.  Harry Fountain,  the Saints Keeper made a fine penalty save with the score standing 2-1 to Hertsmere at the time.  A well taken goal by James Laws gave the Under 9's South an early lead at Hertsmere Colts but the home side scored an equaliser just before half time.  The match ended all square at 1-1.  Ethan Douglas was named Man of the Match for the Saints.  The newly formed under 9's played their first match away to Bushey and came away with a very creditable 1-1 draw after being 1-0 down after six minutes.  Mick Hill won a corner for the Young Saints which was taken by Man of the Match Adam Belroussi and driven home from the edge of the box by Matthew Pearce with a fine volley.  The Saints keeper, James Tipple also had an outstanding game.

19th February 2001

Under 18's

The under 18's north played a double header match at Bedmond Echoes and lost both games 2-0 and 5-0 respectively. In the first game they lost to two late goals whilst in their second match Bedmond were just too strong for them.

Goals from Ryan Hughes and Ollie Franks plus one own goal saw the under 18's south defeat Hemel Youth 3-1 at home in a league match.

Under 17's

A very late foal from John Lyon gave the under 17's all the points in a 1-0 victory in their home league match against Harvesters. The young Saints also hit the woodwork a couple of times during the game as well.

Under 16's

The under 16's played a double header game at home to Southgate Adelaide and won the first match 3-1. Iaian Turkentine gave the young Saints an early lead when he drove the ball home from 12 yards after receiving the ball from a long throw in by Jermaine Davey. Laurence Anscomb and Nick Malham both went close before Southgate equalised before half time. With time running out in the second half the Saints snatched two goals to win 3-1. Allister Collins scored the first with a header from close range after the keeper had parried a well struck effort from Sam Parratt and Allister Collins also scored the other with a low drive from just inside the box into the bottom right hand corner of the net.

In the second game the Saints gave away two sloppy foals to lose finally 2-1. Jermaine Davey had a couple of efforts go close whilst Iaian Turkentine had an effort kicked off the line during the first half.

Allister Collins pulled a goal back fro the Saints late in the game whilst Nick Malham nearly snatched an equaliser for the under 16's but his low shot was saved on the line. This was the under 16's first defeat of the season.

Under 15's

Away to Borehamwood 2000 in a league match the under 15's continue their unbeaten run with a 5-2 victory after being 4-1 up at half time. The Saints goals were scored by James Harvey, Ricky Baker, John Telford, Jason Blyth and Kevin Hearne.

Under 14's

Leading 1-0 for most of the match through a goal from Jonathan Bar-Yaacov the under 14's East finally lost 2-1 to two late foals at home to Evergreen. Andrew Sharp had a fine game for the Saints.

Under 13's

The under 13's West were away to Riverside Hibernian and were losing 2-1 at one stage and it could have been more if it were not for fine penalty save by Glen Safferey the young Saints goalkeeper. At last though the young Saints got their act together and with some good football fan out 5-3 winners with goals from Andy Guard 2, Rob Fasani 2 and Richie Elbourne whilst Phil Woolford struck the crossbar.

Under 12's

Leading 2-0 at half time at home to Evergreen in the league the under 12's North finally won 5-1 with goals from Jamie Eames, Ricky Miller, Alex Olcot, Chris Haslam and Chris Jell.

Playing a double header away to Wormley Youth the under 12's Mid Herts drew the first match 1-1 with a goal from Alex Fraser whilst in their second game they lost 2-0.

The under 12's South were at home to Berkhamsted Raiders and although they had only ten players the young Saints went 5-1 up with goals from Phil Atkins 3, Tim Attwood and James Byrne. When man of the match Tim Attwood went off injured late in the game and the young Saints went down to nine players they conceded three late goals but hung on to win 5-4 eventually.

Under 11's

A fine pass from Andrew Teasdale to Carl Costain who finished brilliantly set the under 11's North on their way to a 3-0 victory at Chiltern Utd. The other two goals came from fine solo efforts from Tom Collin. Ethan Hughes the Saints Goalkeeper and Alex White both had good games for the under 11's North.

The under 11's South were away to Whetstone Wanderers and conceded a goal after only two minutes and they then went 3-0 down early in the second half. The young Saints fought back though with goals from Martin Henry and Scott Corley to lose finally 3-2.

Under 10's

Away to Pinner Utd in a double header the under 10's North drew the first game 2-2 with both the goals coming from Nathan Sandiford. The young Saints had led 2-0 at half time after good first half display. In the second match the whole team won the man of the match award and the young Saints won the game 1-0. Nathan Sandiford scored the winning goal in the second half when he headed the ball home after George Hackett had flicked on a James Rosson corner kick.

The under 10's South played one of the top teams in the league cup away and although the young Saints played well they finally lost 2-0 to London Colney. Michael McDonough won the man of the match award for the Saints.

The under 10's East played a friendly at home to Whetstone Pumas and went down finally 10-0.

Under 9's

Losing 1-0 with five minutes to go at home to Bushey Red up popped Callum Marjoram to score an equaliser for the under 9's North and earn the young Saints a 1-1 draw.

Although the under 9's South hit the woodwork a couple of times they had to settle finally for a 0-0 draw in their away match against Harvesters South.

UNDER 18s

The under18's north played a double header against Hemel Albion and the Saints won thefirst match 1-0 when Trevor Smith scored with a low drive from 20 yards earlyin the first half. In the second matchthe young saints finally won 4-2 after they were 2-0 up at one stage beforeHemel Albion came back to make the score 2-2 midway through the first half.Kevin Coulson scored the first goal when he flicked the ball over the keeperafter being sent clear by Michael Tominey and then Trevor Smith made it 2-0 from the penalty spot after McGovern had been brought down in the box. The saints next 2 goals were both scored by Kevin Coulson to complete his hat-trick during the last 5 minutes of the firsthalf. The first of them was a tap inafter the ball fell to him following a Trevor Smith free kick whilst the secondone came about after a long kick up field by 'keeper Luke Atkinson, which sawCoulson first to the ball, beating the Hemel defence for pace and then drivingthe ball past the advancing keeper to complete the scoreline.

UNDER I5s

The under15s kept their title hopes alive when they defeated Bushey Rangers away 8-1after being 2-0 up at half time. Thegoalscorers were Matt Hanson (2), Kevin Hearne (2), John Telford (2), JamesHarvey and one own goal.

UNDER 14s

Also winningwith ease were the under 14's west who beat Woodhall Wanderers away in theChallenge Cup 5-1. The pick of thegoals was a cracking 25 yard free kick by Ian Smith that flew into the back ofthe net whilst Tom Barnard and James Hearn netted two each.

UNDER 13s

The Under13s East drew 2-2 in their first match of a double header againstSuffolk Falcons with goals from Scott Moore and Richie Collin. In the second game they took all the pointswhen Tom Clark scored the only goal of the match late in the second half.

Playing awayto London Road the 13s West went2-0 down early in the first half but a goal just before half time by PhilWoolford gave the Saints some hope. In the second half 2 goals fromthe diminutive goalscorer Andy Guard saw the saints finally win 3-2. The winning goal came from a powerful header5 minutes from time after Phil Woolford had driven in a corner kick.

UNDER 12s

At last theUnder 12's South got back to winning ways, brilliantly showing some wellpractised three touch football in a 3-1 win over Bedmond Orange. The young Saints got off to an early startwhen a Callum 'chopper' Fowler shot was not held by the Bedmond keeper and CarlVidgens lightning fast reactions saw him net the rebound. Goal number 2 was scored by Edward Ridgeinside the 6 yard box after a fine passing move involving Edward Ridge, LukeStreet and Jim Byrne, with the latter supplying the final pass. Byrne made it 3-0 with a low drive from 10yards after being sent clear by a fine cross field pass from Carl Vidgen.Bedmond pulled a goal back late on.

The Under12's Mid Herts were leading 2-0 in the first of their double headeragainst Potters Bar Utd with goals from Rob (Red) Barron and Tom Hoare but twolate goals with the equaliser coming in the dying seconds of the match sawPotters Bar earn a point. In the secondmatch the young saints ran out 2-0 winners with goals coming from Arran Highamand Alex Olcot. In the first half Olcothad the misfortune to see his cross shot hit the bar and have another effortdisallowed.

UNDER 11s

The Under11s South were at home to Harvesters north and the young Saints finallywent down 1-0 to a goal scored late in the second half

UNDER 10s

PlayingChipperfield away in the League Cup the under 10s North won 8-1 afterthe scoreline was1-1 early in the first half. Once the young Saints stepped up the pace they finally scored four ineach half. The goalscorers were SamYoungs (4), Conor O' Connor (2) and Nathan Sandiford (2). This was a fine team performance with twoman of the match awards going to Christie Tyler for some fine defending andConor O' Connor for his excellent passing.

UNDER 9s

The under 9s South earnt a 2-2 draw athome to London Road with goals from Nathan Byrne and James Laws, but had theSaints taken their chances they would have taken all three points.

UNDER 14's

The Under 14's West played St Albans Rangers at home after the game was switched due to the Rangers Pistch being water logged.  After a very close game the Saints finally went down 1-0 due to a spectacular 40 yard shot late in the game. Well played Rangers.

UNDER 12's

COUNTY CUP SUCCESS FOR THE UNDER 11's North

The best result of the day was the Under 12's North 4-2 victory after extra time over Sun Postals in the Semi Final of the Herts County Cup.  Chris Haslam gave the Young Saints a 1-0 lead at half time with some cool finishing from eight yards out.  A wonderful  left footed effort from 25 yards by Alex Herbert gave the Under 12's North a 2-0 lead,  but Sun Postals fought back with two goals to take the match to extra time.  In extra time the Young Saints took control of the match and James Lawrence made it 3-2 with a simple tap-in from a Ricky Miller cross.  Finally Alex Herbert, also with a tap-in from a Chris Haslam cross made it 4-2 to the Saints.  The Under 12's North now play either Royston or redbourn in the Final at Colney Heath F.C.  Well done to all the boys.

UNDER 11's

The Under 11's North playing away to Edmonton Tigers in the League had a disappointing game that was not upto their normal standards.  they eventually lost the match by two goals to nil.  Losing 2-0 at half time to Bedmond Echoes the Under 11's South showed a spirited second half display to come back to 2-2.  Firstly Martin henry scored with a 35 yard free kick into the top corner of the net and then Leo Gibbon was first to the ball when the Bedmond keeper had pushed out a well struck effort by Chris Lord only for Gibbon to calmly score the equaliser.  With 10 minutes to go though Bedmond scored a third goal to win the match by Three goals to two.

UNDER 9's

A good all round team performance from the Under 9's North saw them defeat Chorleywood Red away 1-0 after a very tough game.  Luke Campion scored the only goal of the match whilst Sam Crowne was named Man of the Match due to his tireless running throughout the match.

Both sides played some good football with the Under 9's South finally losing 3-2 away to Chorleywood Blue despite a fine battling performance from the Young Saints.  James Laws and Nathan Byrne scored the goals for the Saints whilst George Gill was named Man of the Match,  well done George.

City Youth News

Monday Night (29th January) at Clarence Park St Albans City Reserves played Harrow reserves in a Capital League Fixture.  City winning the game 2-1 with goals from Danna McKenzie and Robbie Simpson.  The talking point of the game was  that no less than Seven City Youth players took part on the field during this match.  These were Nathan Maycock, Mike Tominey, Johnny Moore, Matt Jones, Trevor Smith, Iain Turkentine and Allister Collins. Plus we also had Russell Garland on the bench as the Sub keeper,  making a grand total of Eight Youth team players in the match squad.  many thanks to St Albans City F.C. and well done to all of the boys.

MIDWEEK YOUTH TEAM

The City Youth Midweek Youth Team were in the top of the table clash with Brook House at Clarence Park.  In the first few minutes if the game both Craig Mackail-Smith and Nick Baker went close with efforts forcing the Brook House keeper into making good saves.  The Saints finally went in front when Paul Smith won the ball on the left in the 11th minute to then hit over a beautiful deep cross into the box whereupon Craig Mackail-Smith ran into before nodding it passed the keeper to then calmly stroking the ball into the unguarded net.  Johnny Moore and Mike Tominey both went close with efforts before the Saints made it 2-0 in the 20th minute.  Craig Mackail-Smith sprinting clear of the Brook House defence and as the keeper came racing out of his goal Mackail-Smith drove the ball past him low into the back of the net from just inside the box.  Nick Malham, Jamie Parsons, Johnny Moore and Greg Deacon all went close as the Saints tried to increase the lead while at the other end Ollie Lutton cleared the ball after Brook House looked like scoring.  With the second half only two minutes old the Young Saints went 3-0 up,  Greg Deacon drove over a free kick from the right,  which eluded everyone before falling  to that man Craig Mackail-Smith on the far side of the box who then completed his hat-trick.  Peter Hanson,  the Saints keeper had to pull off at least three fine saves during the second half to stop Brook House from pulling a goal back   This was an outstanding team performance which keeps the Saints top of the Allied Counties Youth League,  Eastern Division.

UNDER 18's

The Under 18's North had a very easy victory when they defeated Evergreen away in the league by Twenty One goals to Nil.  There were Eleven different goal scorers with Trevor Smith leading the way with five goals.  The other scorers were Peter Clarke and Kevin Coulson each scoring a hat trick, Luke Atkinson and Nick Baker two goals each, and Nick Clarke, Steve Craddock, Peter Haig, Johnny Moore, Craig Smith and Paul Smith with one goal each.

At home to Bury Town were the Under 18's South in the East Anglian Cup.  After a hard fought game the young Saints went down 4-2.  Bury took an early lead but the Saints hit back with efforts from Kenny Hull, Ben Graham and Jamie Parsons all going close.  With half time coming up the Under 18's scored an equaliser from the penalty spot through Craig Mackail-Smith after being brought down inside the box after being put clear from a fine pass by Adam Wallace.  Early in the second half Mackail-Smith had a well taken effort headed off the line,  while at the other end Bury scored two goals to take a 3-1 lead.  A close range header from Jamie Parsons brought it back to 3-2 but then the Saints defence went to sleep to allow  Bury Town to score a fourth goal nearly straight from the kick off.  Peter Hanson and Ben Graham both had fine games for the Under 18's South.

UNDER 17's

Tom Fairbairn and Ollie Clegg both scored two goals apiece in the Under 17's 8-0 victory at home to Acorn Raiders. The other scorers were Alex Free, John Lyon, Charlie Thrussell and Sam Wilkinson.  The half time score line was 2-0 in this home League Match.

UNDER 15's

Away to Evergreen the Under 15's recorded a 4-1 victory with Raonull McKinnon scoring two goals both of which were scored either side of half time.  Matt Hanson opened the scoring for the Saints with a brilliant volley from 18 yards.  Whilst John Telford scored number four late in the game.

UNDER 14's

Adam Stanley scored the only goal for the Under 14's East as they lost 5-1 at home to Boreham Wood Royals in the league.  The visitors made the game safe with two very late goals. While Andrew Sharp, Adam Stanley and Andy Fassinidge all played well for the Saints.

UNDER 13's

The Under 13's West were away to hemel Celtic and the hard icy pitch did not suit the Young Saints who finally lost 4-1 with Bob Singh scoring their only goal of the match.

UNDER 12's

Away to Palace Youth the Under 12's North made hard work of this match.  To start with the score being only 1-0 at half time.  In the second half it was a different story with the Saints scoring six times to run out 7-1 winners.  The goal scorers were Ricky Miller*3, Alex Olcot*2 and Chris Haslam and Lee Findlay with one goal each.

Despite scoring 3 goals the Under 12's South still lost 7-3 at home to Leverstock Green.  The fought back in the second half with a fine performance with goals from Edward Ridge, Carl Vidgen and Jim Byrne.

The Under 12's (Mid Herts) played a double header against Nasing and they lost the first match 3-1 with Rob Barron scoring for the Saints.  Whilst in the second match they went down 3-0.

UNDER 11's

At home to Northwood the Under 11's North lost 6-2 but not before Tom Collin scored a great solo goal with a fine run from his own half.  Carl Costain scored the other goal with some nice close range finishing.

Also playing  Evergreen were the Under 11's South and they came away with a 3-1 defeat with Ryan Atkins scoring the Young Saints only goal of the match.

UNDER 9's

The Under 9's North fought out a 0-0 draw away to Bedmond Echoes Amber with a fine defensive display.  With Sam Crowne, Jack Ashcroft and Laurie Coupar all having outstanding games.

A goal from Jake Attwell in the very last seconds of the match gave the Under 9's South a 3-2 victory at Bedmond Echoes Orange.  Goals from Nathan Byrne and George (Flash) Gordon gave the Young Saints a 2-0 lead,  but Bedmond hit back to make it 2-2 only to see the Saints snatch that last minute goal.

UNDER 16's

The Under 16's were due to play Tesco Youth at Home in the County Cup Quarter Finals but due to their home pitch being unplayable the match was quickly switched to Tesco's ground at Cheshunt. The Young Saints started brightly with first jermaine Davey going close after a strong surging run at the Tesco defence but his low drive went just wide of the post.  Then Allister Collins went close with a header after a quick long throw into the box by Davey.  Nick Malham then put over a low cross from the right wing which ran right across the face of the goal with Jermaine Davey just failing to get a touch.  Sam Parratt had a long range effort saved at the foot of the post by the Tesco Keeper, while at the other end in a rare Tesco attack a header went just over the Saints bar.  After just thirty seconds of the second half the Saints nearly went in front but Allister Collins 25 yard effort flew just past the upright. Tesco then had a couple of shots go close,  with one effort being tipped around the post by Keeper Russell Garland.  A low drive by Lawrence Anscomb brought out a fine save by the Tesco keeper while an effort by Davey just clipped the outside of the post.  In the 62nd Minute the Saints finally went in front when Nick malham played the ball out to jermaine Davey on the left wing,  Davey looked up and saw Allister Collins surging into the box unmarked, whereupon he played a lovely pass straight into his path and Collins without breaking stride brilliantly volleyed it into the roof of the net from 10 yards.  After this goal Tesco,  instead of lying down fought back and gradually took control of the Midfield creating numerous chances which went close.  With only a minute left they snatched an equaliser when the ball was hooked home in a crowded penalty area following a long throw into the box.  So to Extra Time,  in the first period Jermaine davey burst clear only to see the tesco keeper bring off a fine save to his low shot.  In the second period Nathan Maycock cleared a tesco effort off the line and so the match went to Penalties.  Allister Collins, Iain Turkentine, Jermaine Davey, Lawrence Anscomb and Ollie Lutton all scored from their spot kicks with well taken efforts while Russell Garland brought off a fine save to send the Young Saints through 5-4 to the Semi Finals.

UNDER 9's

There were only two other matches to beat the weather,  both Under 9's sides playing at woodside against Bushey.  Firstly the Under 9's North won 4-2 against Bushey red with Jack Ashcroft giving the Young Saints a 1-0 lead at half time.  Bushey equalised but Harry Fountain quickly made it 2-1 then Bushey snatched another equaliser with ten minutes to go.  With less than two minutes left Luke Campion scored from a tight angle to make it 3-2 and straight from the kick off Laurie Coupar went up and drove the ball home to make the final score 4-2 to the Saints.

The Under 9's South played Bushey Blue in the other match and after James Laws had opened the scoring with a cracking shot the Young Saints went on to win the match with ease 10-1.  There were 2 goals from Gareth Smith and Jake Attwell, plus 2 from Charlie Wyatt,  one of which was struck from 15 yards into the top right hand corner of the net.  Tommy Hunt also scored 2 goals with some cool as a cucumber finishing inside the six yard box,  the final goal was an own goal.

MIDWEEK YOUTH TEAM

The Saints Midweek Youth team were away to Northwood,  after a battling performance,  especially in the second half the Saints came away with a 2-1 victory which keeps them at the top in the league table.  Early in the first half corner kicks taken by Jake Attwood were causing problems in the Northwood defence with one being cleared of the line.  Jamie Parsons had a well taken free kick saved and another effort blocked while a Craig Mackail-Smith short was turned past the post for another corner.  Matt Jones and Johnny Moore both went close before Peter Hanson,  The Saints Keeper had to make a fine stop to keep Northwood out.  With half time approaching the Saints finally opened the scoring when Nick Malham cut out a cross field pass on the edge of the area whereupon he sprinted inside of the box to drive the ball home into the back of the net from sixteen yards.  In the second half Mackail-Smith went close a couple of times while Northwood also looked dangerous going forward.  In the 60th minute the Saints went 2-0 up when Paul Tominey played the ball over the top of the Northwood back four for Jake Attwood to run clear and although his effort was blocked by the advancing challenge of the goalkeeper the ball ran loose for Craig Mackail-Smith to calmly steer it into  the unguarded net.  After this goal Jake Attwood had to be carried off the pitch with a broken leg,  he will now be in plaster for six weeks.  Chances now came at both ends with Northwood pulling a goal back through Duane Hill with a long range effort.  Parsons,  Mackail-Smith both had chances to score for the Saints while at the other end Ollie Lutton was on hand to clear the ball off the line to make sure the Saints held onto all three points in the Allied Counties League Eastern Division.

UNDER 18's

The Under 18's North played a double header against Hemel Youth,  with the Saints winning both matches by the same scoreline of 2-0.  In the first match Johnny Moore and trevor Smith were the scorers while in the second game it was Steve Craddock and Johnny Moore again to wrap up the six points.

UNDER 17's

Playing Woodside at home the Under 17's won 4-0 with goals from Lewis Donnett, Alex free, Tom Fairbairn plus one from Dean Parsons with a header which was only his second touch of the ball after coming out of goal to play upfront.

UNDER 15's

A Stunning volley from Mark Paradise was the pick of the goals in the Under 15's 3-0 at home over Enfield.  The other goals came from John Telford and Kevin Hearne.

UNDER 14's

Leading 3-0 at half time the Under 14's East finally won 5-1 away to London Road in the League Cup.  the goalscorers were Anthony Warren*2, Mark Savory*2 and Jonathan Bar-Yaacov.  Plus there was outstanding performances from Andy Fassnidge and Ben Conrad.

UNDER 13's

The Andy Guard Roadshow carries on as the diminutive striker struck anoth four goals in the Under 13's West 7-1 victory over Herons at home. Phil Woolford scored the other three goals with one coming from the penalty spot.

UNDER 12's

The Under 12's South playing away to Moor Park went down 2-1 to a goal two minutes from time after they had fought back to 1-1 with a fine goal from Man of the Match Carl Vidgen.

County Cup Quarter Final Success,  the Under 12's North were at home to Bishops Stortford and although the young Saints did not play that well they still managed to win the match 4-3.  Ricky Miller hit the winning goal five minutes from time to complete his hat trick,  the other goal came from Ross Court.

Playing at home to Gosling Youth the Under 12's (Mid herts) won 6-1 after a great team effort which saw them avenge a 3-1 defeat earlier in the season.  The goalscorers were Alex fraser*2, Guy Betteridge, Tom Hoare, Daniel Dorans and Aran Higham.

UNDER 11's

Also turning in a fine performance were the Under 11's South who beat Belmont Utd at home 5-0 with goals from Martin henry*2, Scott pointer, Scott Corley and a brilliant diving header from Ryan Atkins.

UNDER 10's

Despite having 90% of the match the the Under 10's North could only draw 0-0 at home to Enfield Warriors in the League. Sam Youngs came the closest to scoring with a header that hit the bar.  Barnaby Mayles and Christie Tyler were both named Man of the Match for the Saints.

Two goals from man of the Match Nick Glasgow  helped the Under 10's South record a fine 6-3 victory away to AETOS in the League.  The other goals came from Michael McDonough, James Smith, Daniel Bissill and Donald Bogle.

The Under 10's East are hitting form with a great 3-2 home win over Harvesters South.  This is now the teams third win in a row,  well done lads.  Scoring the goals for the Saints were Alex Wallis, ben Carey and Chris Hamilton who struck the winner in the second half.

UNDER 9's

The Under 9's South played Chorleywood Blue at home and they went down 5-2 despite a better second half performance.  Both the Saints goals were scored by George Gordon.

MIDWEEK YOUTH TEAM

The Midweek youth team have played two competitive games recently with the first being a home league match at Clarence Park against Uxbridge Youth.  Uxbridge thought they had taken the the lead early on after being awarded a penalty for handball,  Robert Ursell tucked the ball away after his spot kick had hit the post.  The referee awarded a goal but then after consulting his Assistant disallowed it because no other player had touched the ball following the penalty kick.  Robert Ursell did score later on with a low drive after the Saints defence let him run at them with the ball.  After 15 minutes of the second half the Saints drew level when Matt Jones crossed the ball from the left wing and Ben graham headed it on for Craig Mackail-Smith at the far post to drive the ball home.  it was soon 2-1 to St Albans when Greg Deacon slung over a corner kick and there was ben graham at the near post  to head the ball home into the back of the net.  The Saints then had their tails up and quickly made the score 3-1 when Johnny Moore robbed a defender of the ball and after going around the keeper calmly struck the ball into the empty net.  Uxbridge did pull a goal back in the last minute through Paul Hamer but the Saints held on to go top of the league with this fine 3-2 victory.

The Midweek Youth team travelled to Thame to play them in the first round of the League Cup.  During the first half the Young Saints had the better of the goalscoring chances with craig Mackail-Smith, Greg Deacon and Johnny Moore all having efforts which went very close.  In the second half Thame had a few chances early on but Peter Hanson in Goal for the Saints pulled off a couple of fine saves,  especially when he tipped onto the bar a cracking shot from 35 yards.  With about 12 minutes of normal time remaining craig Mackail-Smith had the ball in the back of the net after being put through by Johnny Moore,  however the goal was disallowed for off side.  Thame went quickly upto the other end and won a penalty after Owen Bunce was brought down and Nigel Matthews scored from the spot kick.  The Saints then went all out on the attack with trevor Smith going close with an effort going just over the bar.  With time running out the Saints snatched an equaliser with around two minutes of normal time remaining,  Paul Smith hit a perfect cross into the box whereupon Greg Deacon headed it on and the ball fell to Craig Mackail-Smith who promptly drove it home from six yards.   A minute later Nick Malham nearly made it 2-1 to the Saints but his well struck shot from 30 yards went just over the bar,  what a comeback that would have been.  

So to extra time,  although Allister Collins, Jamie parsons and Greg Deacon all went close for St Albans it was Thame who snatched the winner with a goal two minutes from the end when daniel Mason fired home from the edge of the box.  This was a great performance by St Albans against a team that had scored twenty goals in their last five home games.

In between these games the Midweek team also played a friendly against last seasons Under 18's,  with the Younger boys winning 3-2 after at one stage being 3-0 up.  ben graham scored two well taken goals while Jermaine Davey scored the third after a brilliant solo run.  For the older boys Jonathan (Baby Face) Wasey scored their first goal with a low drive from the edge of the box which left keeper greg deacon on his back.  Nick Perchard scored the other with a close range header after a long throw into the box by Tom Crowne.

UNDER 18's

The Under 18's North were playing their rearranged County Cup match against Herons which was abandoned due to bad light with the Saints leading 5-4 just before Christmas.   Alas the Saints went down 3-2 in the reply despite being twice ahead with goals from Oliver Giles and Nick Clarke.

UNDER 15's

Playing away to hertsmere in the Challenge Cup the Under 15's finally ran out 4-0 winners with a goal in each half from James harvey.  the other scorers being Ryan Nicholas and Paul Brame.

UNDER 13's

The Under 13's West were losing 2-0 at one stage playing at home to Abbotts Youth in the League but a goal just before half time by Andy Guard brought them back into the game.  two further goals by Andy guard in the second half plus one from Andy Wilde saw the Young Saints eventually win 4-2.

UNDER 12's

Their were hat-tricks from Alex herbert and Ricky Miller in the Under 12's North 10-1 away victory over Borehamwood Youth in the League.  Further goals from Jamie Eamies*2, Russell Gallagher and Danny Norris completed the scoreline.

Losing 1-0 at half time to Watton Youth the Under 12's Mid herts team hit back to earn a point in a 2-2 draw.  The goal scorers were Tom Hoare plus one own goal.

UNDER 11's

A superb hat Trick from Tom Collin plus one from Ethan Hughes saw the Under 11's North beat Chiltern utd at home 4-1 in the League.  The Young Saints keeper Jack Irish was named Man of the Match after a string of fine saves throughout the second half.

The Under 11's South with a well below par performance went down 3-0 at home to Hemel Hornets in the League.

UNDER 10's

Away to Haringey Borough the Under 10's North made hard work of this league match but they still won 5-0 in the end.  Goalscorers were Nathan Sandiford*2, Sam Youngs, Barnaby Mayles and James Rossen.  Both Sandiford and mayles were named Man of the match for their outstanding performances.

A goal by James Smith in the first half was enough for the Under 10's South to win 1-0 at Well End.  Matt Bennett the Young Saints keeper was named man of the Match after a string of fine saves throughout the game.

Losing 2-1 at half time to Hemel Lions the Under 10's East hit back to equalise early in the second half through Alex Wallis.  Ben Carey then hit four goals in the second half  for the Young Saints to win the match by six goals to three.  Simon Hammond who was Man of the Match had scored the first goal just before the half time whistle to start the come back.

UNDER 9's

The Under 9's North defeated Enfield Rangers easily away by eight goals to nil.  leading the goalscorers  was Luke Campion with four goals.  there were also singles from harry fountain, Jack Ashcroft, laurie Coupar and callum Marjoram.

Also playing away were the Under 9's South,  they came away with a 3-1 victory over Chiltern utd with James Laws scoring two goals,  one in each half.  A goal by George Hine completed the scoreline before James laws went into goal whereupon he pulled off some fine saves to keep out the Chiltern attack.

UNDER 18's

The Under 18's North were playing at home to Herons in the County Cup.  The North took the lead when Steve Craddock drove the ball home from inside the box.  Herons equalised just before half time but the Saints quickly hit back early in the second half when Kevin Coulson,  with his 200th goal for the club gave them a 2-1 lead.  Trevor Smith then made it 3-1 with a spectacular 40 yard lob over the keeper.  Herons came back with a penalty,  although the Saints keeper Luke Atkinson saved he could do nothing with the follow-up shot.  Then a bad back pass by Gallagher allowed Herons to snatch an equaliser and make the score 3-3.  The Saints hit back with Johnny Moore sending kevin coulson away who promptly drove the ball home to make it 4-3,  however Herons were not to be out done,  they fought back to equalise late in the game.  With only seconds left Herons broke clear again and would have scored a potential winning goal if it had not been for Luke Atkinson who not only saved the shot but also the follow-up effort as well.  So into Extra-Time,  after a brilliant run by Mike Tominey, he set up kevin coulson to score his third goal of the match and also give the Saints a 5-4 lead.  However it was not to be,  after the end of the first period of extra time the Referee decided to Abandon the game due to bad light and so Herons live to fight another day.

The Under 18's South  were at home to Hemel Albion in the League and with goals from Kevin Webb and Ollie Franks went into half time 2-0 up.  Hemel came back to make it 2-2 with their equalising goal being an own goal from the Saints Greg Deacon.  Craig Mackail-Smith then popped up to save his blushes and hit home the winner to give the Saints a 3-2 victory.

UNDER 16's

Playing Whetstone at home in the County Cup the Under 16's got off to a slow start due to this being their first game for 5 weeks.  However once the scored their first goal the Young Saints ran out easy winners by Eleven goals to nil.  Allister Collins struck three goals along with Jermaine Davey with the best of his three being driven home from ten yards.  The other scorers were Jake Attwood, David Hill, Craig Findlay, Lawrence Anscomb (A rare Header) plus a fine effort from Tom Henshall.

UNDER 15's

Also playing in the County Cup were the Under 15's away to Wormley.  The Young Saints winning by two goals to nil with the goals coming from Kevin Hearne in the first half and one from Matt Hanson in the second half.

UNDER 14's

It has been seven weeks since the Under 14's East last played,  and it showed when they were caught napping in the first minute of their away match at Hemel Aces and so went one goal down.  Ben Conrad nearly scored the equaliser but his 25 yard free kick flew just past the post.  The young Saints finally went down 4-0 but not before Daniel Goodchild pulled off a tremendous save from a penalty kick in the second half.

UNDER 13's

One nil down to Chiltern Utd after  two minutes the Under 13's East hit back with Adam Hull equalising from a free kick after 30 minutes.  But two late goals gave the home side a 3-1 victory. Ashley Funnell was named Man of the Match for the Young Saints.  Two goals from Rob Fasani plus one own goal gave the Under 13's West a 3-2 victory away to Riverside Hibernian in the League.

UNDER 12's

Goals from Chris Haslam and Ricky Miller gave the Under 12's North a 2-0 lead at home to Riverside Hibernian Green in the County cup.  Although the visitors pulled one goal back Russell Gallagher scored the third goal for the Young Saints to give them a 3-1 win.  Joe Welch had a good game for the Saints between the sticks.  Losing 3-0 away to Bushey rangers in the league the Under 12's South came back to 3-1 with a goal from Edward ridge.  Then Saints then missed a penalty only to then see Bushey score another in the last minute to win 4-1.

UNDER 11's

Man of the Match Luke McDermont struck two goals for the Under 11's North 5-2 home win over Chorleywood Blue.  The other goals came from Tom Collin*2 and a single from Carl Costain.  Leading 1-0 then 2-1 the Under 11's South finally went down 3-2 at home to Evergreen in the League.  Martin henry scored the first goal for the Saints with a free kick while Scott Corley scored the second.

UNDER 10's

At half time the Under 10's East were losing 1-0 away to Strides,  but two fine strikes from Man of the Match Ben Carey in the second half gave them a 2-1 victory.

UNDER 9's

A good all round team performance saw the Under 9's North beat London Colney Amber 1-0 with a goal from Matthew Henson.  Two goals from George 'Flash' Gordon gave the Under 9's South a 2-0 lead at home to London Colney South,  then a goal from Ben Riddell saw the Young Saints finally win 3-1
