Born
in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Geísa Dutra
started her musical studies at age 4 with her
mother, Isabel Dutra. After training with Heitor
Alimonda at the University of Rio de Janeiro School
of Music, Geísa Dutra continued her studies
in Canada and the United States.
As
a student of Bèla Siki, she received her
Master of Music degree from the University of
Washington. Her prizes and awards include the 1983
"Johannesen International School of the Arts Award"
in Canada and first prizes in the 1984 "Northshore
Musicians Club Competition" in Chicago, the 1986
"Ladies Musical Club Competition" in Seattle, and
the 1985 "Cliburn International Piano Institute
Award" in Fort Worth.
Miss
Dutra currently lives in Seattle and performs
throughout North and South America and Europe,
including recitals on National Public Radio and
Television.
Brazilian &
Spanish Piano Works is
Geísa's debut recording and features works
by Albéniz, Mompou, Villa Lobos, Nazareth,
Guarnieri, and Santoro.
Chopin Preludes is Geísa's
newest recording, featuring the complete preludes,
and will be released February, 1997. A limited
number of copies are available now!
