Course Comments for Eagle Marsh G.C.

This course is a difficult “target golf” course on some holes with many water and marshland hazards. Definitely one of the most difficult in the area. Like the Champions Club at Summerfield, this course meanders through the marshes and you will seldom catch a glimpse of any of the adjacent holes. But that's where the similarity to Champions Club ends. When I played here in July 2000 I had forgotten how tough this course really was. If you are a long driver this course forces you to leave the driver in the bag in favor of a fairway wood on many holes simply because of the narrow fairways. And even if you are not so long a driver, playing the shorter tees (under 6000 yards) may not be advantageous because of the close location of the marshes on many holes due to irregularly shaped fairways or fairways which are segmented by swamps. In other words, playing farther back (over 6000 yards) gives you a lot more landing room for the average hitter. A golfer who can master his long irons off the tee would have a decided advantage on this course over someone who just stands on the tee and rips it, because there is nothing but trouble everywhere you look. Adding to the difficulty is the fact that the green and flag stick are not visible from the tee on at least 7 of the holes. This course features a fair amount of rolling terrain especially on the fairways often giving you a less than ideal stance. Since I last played here in 1998, the 18th hole had been revamped. It now has 2 greens that you can shoot at, a shorter green that is straight ahead, or the existing green that makes you hit dog-leg right over the marsh. In my opinion this is one of the 2 or 3 best courses in the area sometimes on the expensive side...usually slightly over $30 during the summer but in July 2000 we played for $25 per man when that seemed to be the going rate in the area. If you check the local convenience stores or stop by in advance they will sometimes offer coupons that will reduce your green fees by $5 per person or $20 per foursome on certain days of the week. Most days it is “daily fee”golf. Play as many holes as you want. This course was always so tough on us that we never played more than 18. This course was originally planned as Jensen Beach Country Club but ran into financial difficulty before construction was complete. Tommy Fazio picked it up and turned it into what is now billed as the "Jewel of the Treasure Coast." There are 4 sets of mens' tees ranging from 5966 yards to 6975 yards.

PLAYED EARLY JAN 02. EXCELLENT COURSE, EXCELLENT SHAPE, WAY OVER PRICED. $80.00 GOING UP TO $90.00 IN FEB. I GUESS IF YOU PLAY IN THE SUMMER HEAT FOR UNDER $50.00 IT IS AN EXCELLENT DEAL. MANY NICE HOLES BUT STAFF IS A LITTLE STANDOFFISH, LIKE IT IS PRIVATE AND YOU ARE INTRUDING.

Played two weeks ago at Eagle Marsh, 06/01/02. The course is in great condition. It is not suitable for long hitters, if this is your game. I hit my 3 iron from the box in about 80% of the time to stay out of trouble. There is wildlife at every hole. From Sandhill cranes to rabbits, a bull frog and even a small alligator. Would love to play again, although, I am hopefull they will reduce the am rate to $25 from the current $35 for the summer. If you go, it is better to tee-off by 7:00am to miss most of the late mourning heat. I started at 8:00am and was done by 11:30am. (very hot!) Not too many people...maybe they are also waiting for the $25 rate...

Played a partial round at Eagle Marsh yesterday on their $15 July special. The greens were in magnificent shape even slightly nicer than Ballantrae's which I saw on Saturday. Remainder of the course was also in superlative shape with very few brown spots. Something about Eagle Marsh, though, I always seem to bake each time I play there for lack of a cool breeze. Yesterday was no exception. Got rained out after 13 and it felt very refreshing.

Just to clarify, the $15 special I alluded to in the previous message is an after 3PM deal that I saw in the newspaper. It's really not a coupon, and I'm not sure if this is offered every day of the week, but I saw it in the Monday issue of the F.P. Tribune, always a good paper to buy on Mondays to check out the "golflinks" specials in the sports section.

Played 1/26/04 Waste of $89/person. Greens and fringe around green looks like Martin County Public Course. Pushy rangers. They need a golf course book to show where the marsh crosses the fairways from tees. Not very forgiving for wife's high handicap. Don't waste your money.

I play the course all the time. Course conditions are a 7 on a scale of 1-10. Love the 17th hole, long par 3. If you are a high hanicapper.....bring a lot of balls and enjoy your round. Just remember, it's only a game. Great course...love it.

Played here today Saturday 4/24/04 - Course was in good condition and as tricky as ever. Even with the Greens being poked in last few weeks they were rolling pretty true. This is a difficult layout and requires that you apply a lot of course management. It can be played well if you plan your shots and stay a little conservative. Fees published as summer rates in this Monday's Paper were: $29 before 11am & $22 after 11 am & $15 after 3 pm

Played here Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 830am. Fee was only $22 with coupon that I found on internet. What a beautiful course. I love the marsh areas. Yes, it is a tough course, but man is it beautiful. Some holes demand a long carry, but play conservative and your score will show it big time. Let the others hit in the marsh and screw themselves. Loved it, will be back for sure. Can't beat it.

Played Eagle Marsh the first week of April. We were the first group off at 7:07 and paid $49 for the round. The course was in excellent shape from the first hole to the last. Very pretty course with alot of different hole designs. Everyone in our foursome was playing the course for the first time and we all had a great time. Very friendly and helpful starter. The 18th hole was a little confusing to us, being our first time there we did not know which green we should be playing to. Overall wonderful experience. Will definitely play it again next time in the area.

We played the course with a coupon two weeks ago. The price was reasonable. The course was in pretty good shape. There is a lot more development on this course now. Our 2 low hancicap players disliked this course the most citing the blind shots with no indication of how to play the shot...the comment was "I don't mind target golf but I would like to know where the target is".
